It's not about horsepower IT'S torque and merging on the interstate is MY wife's key vehicle test. The hemi passed and now we own a new 14 Overland!

Re: 0-60 times JGC V6 & V8

I think the v6 mated with the 8 speed is just fine. I averaged 23 mpg on a trip from LA to San Francisco. That's going 70 mph. If I went 65, I'm sure I would have averaged 24. My car has less than 1k miles on it.

It really falls on its face after 1st gear. It doesn't appear to shift any faster than the previous 6 speed either. I clocked the same 0.6 seconds for the 1-2 shift in this video and the following Hemi video.

I did clock the 8 speed shifting faster than the 5 speed auto paired with the V6 form this video though, about 0.1-0.2 seconds faster.

FWIW, I used a certified chronometer too. Tag Heuer ftw.

Re: 0-60 times JGC V6 & V8

Video 0-60 times should all be taken with a grain of salt. Weather, location, and incline/decline come into play. These are far from controlled tests.

I think both engines will see a .5 - 1.0 sec improvement. Mag test results should be out soon.

It's not going to improve performance, but it makes the vehicle want to go faster easier. Basically hurries throttle input, makes it more likely to hold a gear, etc.

In a WOT from a stop situation both will react the same. In WOT while moving, Sport will be more likely to drop down an extra gear.

I don't know if the transmission learns separately in both. I'd lean towards thinking it just learns for all programs based on all data, but it would be nice if it would only learn specific programs based on being in that program.

Very true points. But what will not change is going to be the transmission shift speed, and number of shifts. The shift speed wasn't increased like everyone claimed, and now there's an extra gear change required.

I'm starting to think there will be no change in 0-60 performance at all, maybe the 8 speed being slightly slower. It will likely make a jump from 0-30, but the extra gear changes will end up evening it out.

Anything is possible especially when Jeep is so keen on higher mpg. However the 8 speed really woke up the 3.6 Charger. The tranny has the potential, it's the programming that might hold it back in the WK2 platform.

Re: 0-60 times JGC V6 & V8

Has anyone ran a 0-60 with their 2014 JGC V6 or V8 and posted times anywhere?

I feel you man, I am going from an Evo IX with 400awhp to my Overland V8. During my test drive the idiot dealer said, "you feel that power?" I am doing this so I feel more like an adult, lol, but I will badly miss my acceleration.

I don't think anyone wants to beat on their brand new vehicle just to post 0-60 times on here.
