Re: 0-60 times JGC V6 & V8

I have 2012 Overland 5.7 and got 8.66 seconds 0-60 stock and then got my diablo and tunned it to diablo tune 93 and got 7.98 seconds 0-60. i'm scratching my head when someone say's 6.9 sec stock.. I live way up north in Alberta -15C flat road. I've tuned my speedometer for my tires size etc...

I was thinking that as I was asking it...and wrote it anyway. Maybe someone pulled out the stopwatch on their iphone while test driving one.

Two i-net magazine guys, posted on you-tube, got a 7.7 with the 2014 CRD during the press intro. I really want to beleive the 5.7 will accellerate faster than the CRD.

The 8 speed fuel economy does not appear to be much better than the 5/6 speed fuel economy. (About the same city, about 1 mpg better hiway.) If the 8 speed cars aren't quicker, I would hope they'll be more responsive. Otherwise, what's the point?

If the CRD is 20-25% more fuel efficient than the Hemi, and just as fast, then, on paper, the CRD is the answer. I'd only have to make sure I do enough hiway driving to allow the regeneration to fully work.

Well that is what I got with mine stock on my Trinity. Don't know why yours is that much slower.

1200 ft above sea level and it sounds like he has changed tire size

Re: 0-60 times JGC V6 & V8

I am surprised at how hard it is to find a 0-60 time for the 2014 JGC V6 & V8. I understand the new owner not wanting to run it, but I can't believe Motortrend, Car and Driver or Road & Track don't have these listed. Does anyone think the V6 & V8 times will be almost identical?

It's probably closer to 50% more fuel efficient.

Re: 0-60 times JGC V6 & V8

I have always wondered why are the times so high on all of the GC's? Other cars similarly equipped (power, weight, 4X4/AWD) have lower times and some with much less HP and TQ. I figured with the new 8speed the gap would have closed more. Granted there are not many 14's that have broken in enough to give real numbers.

For what it's worth...My wifes GC with the 360hp with 3:09 gears Hemi kills my 2010 Ram with the 390hp Hemi. My truck is a reg cab swb with 3:92 gears and is lighter than the Jeep but still gets walked on from start to finish! To make things worst the Jeep only has 600 miles on it.

That's just not what it's designed for. Having a true full time 4wd system increases drivetrain loss, and it's not exactly a svelte and sleek little sports coupe that slices through the air. It's a big bulldozer that destroys the air in its way.

Before I bought my Jeep, I was interested in the Durango R/T, but it had the same problem, just worse. It was a "sporty" version that was slower than the base Mercedes GL despite being more powerful and lighter. It was a great vehicle, so I ended up with the 2 row GC Overland and just didn't care about it being slow.

Will an ML550 absolutely demolish it in a drag race? You bet your ass it will. But I truthfully don't care, I didn't buy it for a drag car. It's got enough power to be fun, and it drives around town great. That's the important part to me.

Re: 0-60 times JGC V6 & V8

Maybe the 2010, 390 HP Ram truck doesn't really make the stated 390 HP. Mercedes always tends to under quote their HP IMO. Audi's 2.0 Turbo seems to run better than it should by the numbers. Buick's Grand National was famous for running WAY BETTER than it's 245 HP would suggest.
I remember Toyota's All-Trac 200 HP Celica Turbo being a lot slower than I would have thought back in the day.
I saw a January test of the Explorer Sport going 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. It has "5" horsepower less supposedly than the Hemi. Go figure.
