160F Thermostat for WK2 Grand Cherokee

I want to install a 160F aftermarket thermostat for my GC. Is there any market that supplies for the GC WK2 a 160F thermostat?

If you go below a 180F you will trigger engine codes (even a 180F may). What we really need is one that is full open by 195F.

I have a jet 180 on my wk2 SRT with 0 codes. I think with a 160 tstat you would need a tune from Diablo

Hello Scottina,
Thank you for your reply. 180F will be excellent as well. I will ask Hemifever if he can tune for 160F thermostat.
I will send you a message in private. Please check

Re: 160F Thermostat for WK2 Grand Cherokee

Ok I just found out from parts.com that the stock thermostat part# is 52028898AI. It is the same part# for 2010-2012 Jeep GC 5.7L Hemi.

Does anyone know from what temperature does the stock thermostat open at? To me it seems it opens at 210F.

I found a 180F thermostat here http://www.summitracing.com/search/p...engine-type/v8

Re: 160F Thermostat for WK2 Grand Cherokee

Just installed the 180F thermostat. The water is runnig about 10 degrees celsius cooler and oil temperature is lower by around 7-10 degress celsius. This has helped alot now that our weather is above 40C (104F) during this summer.

I thank member Scottina06 for advising about the correct thermostat.

Most stock thermostats seem to open around 190-195. Not sure about the newer Jeeps, but our 2003 Overland, '11 Z06, and '12 CTS-V all have 190's.

What is your reason for wanting to go to a 160 stat?

Re: 160F Thermostat for WK2 Grand Cherokee

I want to run the engine between 180F and 190F for two reasons:
1) everything under the hood lasts longer
2) a CAI will be much more effective.

Problem is that I have a Pentastar and the thermostat (OEM is 195) is a four piece affair that includes the waterneck. If anyone knows of a 180F or 185F replacement for the Pentastar V6, please let me know.

Re: 160F Thermostat for WK2 Grand Cherokee

I looked for one myself and not necessarily for Jeep but for a dodge charger 3.6 L v6 as well. No luck. I may give WATER WETTER by Redline another chance. On turbo Subaru with the turbo being cooled with coolant, it didn't do much. But maybe on the Jeep, without a 200,000 rpm spinner that adds so much heat, the product might work as advertised.
