2011 Grand Cherokee misfiring!!!

I have a Grand Cherokee Limited and it was running fine then the check engine light came on and was flashing, now it's just on. I had the code ran and it was a misfire in cylinder 5. I replaced the coil pack for cylinder 5 (I believe? The 2nd to last on the driver side), all boots and spark plugs and it still runs choppy. Any ideas?

Dirty, partially plugged fuel injector?

There could be oxides at the springs inside boots and at the coils high voltage terminals. I saw at my hemi. I had no misfire but cleaning of the oxides made the engine smoother and more responsive.

And the idea is to check the tension of the bolts fixing the inlet manifold. Its plastic and might get loosened. At idle it could cause incorrect mixture as the MAP readings would be wrong because of suction extra air to inlet

I've ran seafoam spray to help clean the throttle and injectors. All plugs, coils and boots have been changed. Swapped injectors but didn't change the fact that cylinder 5 keeps tripping the code. I disconnected the injector and coil sensors on cylinder 5 and it doesn't change the way it runs. Still misses then runs fine intermittently. However, now Im getting codes p300, p305, p308 and now p2314. havent been able to locate a vacuum leak either.

Not trying to scare you or anything but the reason I have my current WK2 is because I had the same thing happen to my Charger SRT (6.4) back in May.

Had a huge ticking out of nowhere 2 days prior and then it went away and the car ran extremely rough, almost dying at idle and hesitating to start, and I also popped a Cylinder 5 misfire as well as low oil pressure code. I too changed out the plugs and coils and still no luck so I took her to the dealership.

Luckily, I had a warranty...their findings? Lifter had gone bad and had contaminated the other lifters and part of the engine with metal particles. They replaced the lifters, MDS solenoid, camshaft, oil control solenoid, spark plugs, oil and gaskets/seals. Car ran a lot better but still had low oil pressure (9-10psi at idle with a max of 50psi at WOT and an immediate drop the moment I let off and idled down again). Took her to the dealership about 5 more times (3 times for low oil pressure, 1 time to another dealer for a 2nd opinion and 1 time to get my coils and valve covers swapped because they overtorqued them and caused them to crack when they had replaced everything the 1st time)

After the 6th time, over a month of not having my car and spending money on rentals, I decided to trade her in and ended up getting my WK2 (WK2SRT's were too expensive :(:( and there were 0 WKSRT's that were worth the money :(:( )

My response may or may not be much help but figured I would share what the dealership did when I had the same code. Like I said, once they replaced everything the car ran better, I just had a low oil pressure issue.. which may or may not have been a thing of it's own or also connected to the misfire somehow.

Best of luck!

I have a 2012 GC Overland with a 5.7L Hemi. Engine started idling rough and then the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and they hooked the computer up to it and said #5 cylinder was misfiring and I needed a new engine. Well I had the life time maintenance policy so did not think that was a big deal. As it turns out when they found out it was on their dime they flew someone in to verify the problem before they dropped 10K on a long block.

As it turns out the roller on the #5 exhaust valve lifter locked up and destroyed the cam lobe. End result was a new cam and lifters for the #5 cylinder. Problem fixed. BUT HAD IT BEEN MY DIME I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PUT 10K INTO A NEW ENGINE ON THEIR ADVISE. HMMMM!

I am sure you have figured this out by now, but this is a recurring problem with this engine on the same lifter and cam lobe. (GOOGLE IT) It is about a $4000 dollar fix for just the cam and lifters. DO NOT LET A DEALER TALK YOU INTO A $10K LONG BLOCK. Thankful for the lifetime warranty at it only cost me $100.
