Re: 2011+ tuning via Diablo is COMING!

The canned tunes need to be created to be safe in all vehicles, even a stock car will see some gains with a CMR tune as the tune will be custom made for particular car. All are different and react differently.

Re: 2011+ tuning via Diablo is COMING!

Thanks for the info. I already run 89 octane and I believe I have read some tuners require that even with a canned tune. To me, $2.00-$5.00 difference per fill-up is nothing. Heck, I bought a Hemi didn't I?!?!

Re: 2011+ tuning via Diablo is COMING!

I wonder how tightly integrated the Selec-Terrain system is with the engine tuning.

Doesn't "Sport" / "Snow" affect shift points and torque management? Will they have to create a "mini" tune for each selec-terrain setting? It would be cool if they could really boost the hp and torque in the sport mode. Having a mini-tune for each selec-terrain setting would be awesome! Like 5 different tune flashes all concurrently available.

Maybe they are focusing on Rams and the Dodge lineup as they do not have the selec-terrain system...

If they are deeply integrated together, it may take a while to make a tune for each setting...

Asked that very question of them as well and Diablo told me it would have no effect at all.

I am actually going to the SEMA show next week and plan on talking to Diablo Sport there. I will post the info I find out, but I assume it will already be up on their website by then.

Fueling, ignition timing, thottle sensitivity, transmission shift schedules, etc are kept in tables. I'm guessing there are multiple copies of these tabes for the various select-terrain modes (and for tow/haul mode). When you switch select-terrain modes or tow/haul mode your most likely just telling the PCM / ECU to simply start using a different set of tables.

So a tuner could elect to tune the various sets of tables or even leave them stock. So for example they might elect to increase the throttle sensitivity in normal and sport mode tables but keep the snow mode throttle sensitivity stock.

Re: 2011+ tuning via Diablo is COMING!

I think I would just be happy with increased power across the full range in all modes. Also improved throttle response. My M3 had a "sport" button and all it really did was increase throttle response. It was a pretty dramatic difference from normal mode. It would be great if the JGC's "sport" setting could be adjusted to do the same. It definitely gave the impression of a more aggressive driving experience, although WOT was still WOT, you just got there a bit quicker without having to push the pedal as far.

Re: 2011+ tuning via Diablo is COMING!

Hopefully the tuner will be able to allow us to access 3rd gear during normal acceleration (more time in the optimum power band without having to manually shift into 3rd), and the ability to turn off the TPMS.

SEMA starts today. Do we have any updated word on when the announcement will be made?

I highly doubt we'll be able to disable tpms with it.

On my Superchips programmer for my JK I can set the TPMS thresholds to whatever I want. You would just set it to 0 psi if you really wanted it disabled. Although I have no clue why you'd want to disable it.
