Regarding the 0-60, ya, not a focus of mine, would've got the SRT if it were, just having some fun with the new ride....get some good sound, upgrade from no warranty on factory exhaust to lifetime on the Corsa (I keep my cars 12-14 yrs) and doing it for basically free (sell the factory to some rock crawlers who crunch theirs to basically break even)...I also have the Billet Tech catch can and will get a ported throttle body and Diablo/Hemifever 89 tune...
Great Idea about selling to rock crawlers...I have a friend who does that and I'm gonna ask him to spread the word. I had a local exhaust shop do my install of the Corsa. They usually do Flowmasters and MagnaFlows. They were really quite impressed with the quality and ease of fit up with the Corsa. It is really thick walled and the welds are excellent. Well worth the money.

Hey, thx for spreading the word. I'll have it posted on classifieds here and other forums in a week or so. I'll have complete system (600 miles on it) except most of the hangars/mounts.

Ya the quality if great and they use the correct non-corrroding stainless (300 series i think). One of the big aftermarket exhausts out there (forget witch one) use 400 series stainless and it will rust out just by looking at it. People think stainless doesn't rust....wrongo!

They are the supplier for the Mopar branded performance exhausts on mopar.com too.

Typically, going from a 2.5 to a 3.0 diameter exhaust will yield hp and torque gains if engineered specifically for the powerplant it's mated to. However, engines do need backpressure and it is possible to open an engine up too much. I will hit the engineers up with your comments and let you know their response. They claim "Maximized HP and TQ - A straight-through, unrestricted design reduces back pressure; increasing engine efficiency, horsepower and torque."

I know it's not as simple as pipe diameter as the choke point (muffler/resonator) internal design has the greatest impact on flow/hp/torque but here are the basic stats on the ones I researched:

Stock, 2.5", galvanized
Corsa, 3.0", all 300 series stainless
Magnaflow, 2.5", 400 series stainless pipes, 300 tips
Flowmaster 2.5", 400 series stainless pipes, 300 tips
Gibson, 2.25", 400 series stainless pipes, 300 tips
Borla, 2.5", all 300 series stainless

Interestingly, they all report small (basically nil) hp/torque INCREASES of 7-10ish hp/torque over stock.

The reason most use 2.5 is not (according to their tech support) because it is better for backpressure/hp/torque but because the larger diameter creates too large a sound wave internally creating too aggressive a sounding exhaust and unacceptable interior noise (drone). This is the RSC patent Corsa has for noise cancelling to deal with the bigger sound waves from the larger pipe diameter.

I am also a motocrosser so I have a pretty good motorcycle exhaust knowledge and know full well how aftermarket exhausts affect an engines power delivery across low-mid-high power bands. It will be an interesting conversation with them tomorrow. Again, I am after the sound but definitely want to understand what it is doing to my "powerband" esp if it nips some off the low-end.

Regarding the 300 vs. 400 stainless composition. For the consumer 300 series is better, period! I had no (or very little) iron so it resists rust/corrosion the best. 400 series is best for the manufacturer. It is softer and easier to mandrel bend and cheaper. They mitigate it's surface rust by using it in the undercarriage and use 300 in the visible tips and sometimes post/end muffler if visible. I guess the 400 series has more iron in it that when it goes thru its initial heat/tempering cycle in use the iron comes to the surface and forms surface only rust. Looks bad but supposedly will not rust out internally.

It's where the increase in HP and torque occur in the powerband that I'm talking about. What happened was a shift in the peak of the powerband. I saw immediate and substantial drop in low end performance which I could feel and which was borne out in the 0-60 times which went from 6.9 up to 7.4 seconds. From a roll, performance improved with the better flow of the Corsa, and in reality, thats actually more helpful. I don't anticipate drag racing with a 5200 lb SUV, but it's nice to have the giddyap for getting on the freeway, passing, etc.
For reference, I have a custom true CAI system, 85mm TB, and Hemifever tuning.

Re: 2014 5.7 Corsa sound clip

Curious to see how it looks on the summit, please post pictures. I have had corsa on all my trucks. I hope they come out with a production kit for the Summit.

One word....Saucey! It sounds bada$$ too! It's got this backwash/reverb sound when gears shift, thing sounds like a race car. My gas mileage is officially gone to $hit! I can't stay out of the throttle! They did a great job of staggering the double tips (per side) so they follow the curving bumper from center to edge. Mine was a one-off but they plan to kit it, just don't know when. I'll find that out when I go back in for the retorque and to pickup my stock exhaust.

We just had our foot of snow melt and now it's rainy, should get a chance to clean her up and snap some pics and 0-60 times (I was 6.5 pre Corsa/Volant). Hopefully some video too, weather sux here tho.

Please let us know what your 0-60 time is after the Corsa. I'm very interested.

My butt dyno says equal, we shall see...Corsa guys say on average it's a shave off low end and much extra middle, relatively speaking for what a cat back adds..

My 0-60 went from 6.9 to 7.4 seconds after the Corsa install. I get much better acceleration from a roll but really not very good from a dead stop. That's why I'd like to know how you do

Re: 2014 5.7 Corsa sound clip

you're prolly right, my comment of shave off low was re torque so that would imply slower/higher 0-60....all the racket from the sound is probably effecting my butt dyno sensor (ears) I'll let you know, ice is gone now....

Re: 2014 5.7 Corsa sound clip

Here are the pics including the Volant CAI, working on editing the videos now. She's a little dirty in the Corsa factory pics as it was snowing like crazy the day of install. Got her a little cleaned up for the pics at home today. I can safely say that I have the only 2014 Grand Cherokee Summit 5.7l in THE WORLD with a Corsa cat-back exhaust. I'll post when I get any details or timelines for public version for sale.
