Can some of you that have an intake in your 2014 give me some input. I am picking up my 2014 Altitude this weekend and I want to order a cold air intake for it sooner than later, thanks in advance
All depends on how much you want to spend. They all give you about a 10 hp / 12 ft.lb increase, and possibly a slight increase in mpg.
I personally went with the least expensive & easiest to install CAI...the Airaid CAI for the 2011+ Grand Cherokee, which fits both the 3.6L and the 5.7L Hemi.
My K&N is working great no issues and great quality. Other members have enjoyed their Mopar cai's which appear to be very similar to the K&N. The Volant looks like a great package but some have complained of fitment issues.
On this page there are numerous write up of all the CAI's available for the V6 and V8's. Check them out and your question will be answered. Not sure what engine you have as that could affect someone's recommendation.
V6 has a long intake tube that snakes around the engine as the throttle body is towards the left rear of the engine. Couple guys on here have installed it and have pictures.
I too have the 14 altitude and just put in the kn cold air intake and couldn't be happier...sounds awesome, looks great and u really feel that 10-12 hp gain...started a thread ok it with videos if u wanna hear and see it.
Install took about an hour and fit perfectly.
Looks great...did u have any problem putting the lid back on when finished? For some reason on mine, the lid doesn't fit snug back on...the piping is a bit higher now going into the throttle body...also I'm kinda new at this, but what is a custom add on for more colder air exactly?
Mine fits pretty good did you cut the cover on that side? Well I was thinking of a way to get colder air into that area like the stock box has the opening between the hood and headlight. Once you pull that it's just kinda open so I wonder if air is getting lost.. Just a random tonight I had about it
I was thinkin about cutting a small notch but I'm on a lease and if I decide to not keep it, I didn't wanna cut it. Ur random thought is pretty insightful...good idea but how would u fit that stock box back in or something similar to it?
