2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 Overland Gas Mileage

I've been driving my new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 for a little over a month now. I have about 500 miles on it (mostly New York City street miles). I have been averaging roughly 13 miles/gallon. Just wanted to see what other members here have been averaging under their scenarios. I usually disable the Eco button. Do you think my milage will improve as the engine breaks in? Thank you all in advance.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 Overland Gas Mileage

I have been wondering the same thing. I'm considering trading my 2011 for a 2014 with the V6.
Someone posted this link in another thread, which I found interesting

Appreciate the link, hopefully I can improve the mileage to at least 16/gallon.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 Overland Gas Mileage

City driving in Denver with a K&N "CAI" I get 17. I'm usually in eco mode but do get a little aggressive behind the wheel after a long day at work.

If you put it in sport, and definitely with manual control over the gearbox! Try to rev to 5000 rpm on the mean and busy streets of New York City before up-shifting ! Even better fuel economy than a bus...

Seriously, don't you think that the ECO button and the fact that the car defaults to ECO, happens for a reason?

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 Overland Gas Mileage

Yes, but I did not think it would take that big of a gas hit by taking out of Eco mode which is why I was asking what others were getting.

Possibly ECO mode is a bit too sluggish for fencing with the taxicabs?

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 Overland Gas Mileage

ECO is specifically for gas mileage by enabling quick upshifts. You should definitely see an improvement in ECO mode. Heck, my V8 gets 16 in town (although I leave it in ECO mode unless making a quick pass on the highway).

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 Overland Gas Mileage

Don't worry, that is perfectly acceptable mileage for such a heavy vehicle in a big city. I used to get similar mileage in Boston with my 2005 WK V6. When I changed to the Hemi the mileage was exactly the same. All the folks who get 16 or better in town aren't in big cities with bumper to bumper traffic for sure.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 Overland Gas Mileage

Winter months your mileage will be lower cause of the additives they put in at least here. I am around 15 mpg with a usual trip of 18 miles to work and back. Before winter I was 17-18 average to sometimes 20mpg.

This makes alot of sense, much appreciated! I should have stepped up to the Hemi.
