First thing I'm going to do is put some silicone spray on the gas cap threads.
I wanted to try that ... but couldn't find a gas cap.

It took about a day and two short trips, but this actually worked. More precisely, I cleaned and lubricated the gas cap threads and O-ring with silicone spray. I then took a shorter trip to the end of the street and back and tried to reset the trouble code but that didn't work. So I drove to work sites the next day per usual, and after a few hours it reset itself.

Shop time: about one minute. Shop supplies: about five cents. Considerably less time and expense than going to the dealer.

Bought a used 2014 in July. About two months later check engine light came on. Tried what I could as far as gas lid/filler, bUT nothing cleared it. Brought it into dealership last Friday and they said the car passed inspection so they simply cleared the code. As I was driving away the light came right back on. Brought it back yesterday and they did what should've been done in the first place which was the smoke test. Turns out I need to replace a hose that connected to the canister is what I was told. I was fortunate to get that fixed free of charge for my trouble and also after a not so favorable Google review....

Re: 2014 Limited - Check Engine Light on

My check engine light came on before Christmas on my way to the airport, when I came back 5 days later it was still on. I needed an oil change (I have free oil changes from the dealer) and tire rotation so I took it to the dealership. My ' 15 GC Limited has 32K on it.

Took it to the dealership and they said it was the P0456 error. This is the quote from the Work Order "FOUND P0456 SMOKE TEST EVAP SYSTEM AND FOUND VACUUM HOSE FROM PURGE VALVE TO CANISTER LEAKING. ALSO FOUND PURGE VALVE SMOKING WHEN IT WAS ACTUATED WITH WITECH VALVE WAS NOT HOLDING.
REPLACE PURVE VALVE AND VACUUM HOSE RETEST WITH SMOKE MACHINE AND IT PASS".

They replaced PN 68302344-AB & PN 4627972-AB under warranty. It took 3 days and I got a loaner because I have the Max Care Warranty.
