2014 magnaflow Exhaust problem

I have a 2014 summit 5.7. Deleted the stock resonators and added a magnaflow muffler in place of the stock suitcase. Sounds just awesome at all levels however one problem and I can't figure out what the hell is going on.

Between 1-2-3 gear it farts when punched and half the time when not punched. It literally farts. Any idea anyone what's going on? Do I need to put resonators back on?

Re: 2014 magnaflow Exhaust problem

Damn I thought so after all the posts I read. There's no software yet out for the 2014 to shut it off. So basically I don't have a choice until software comes out to get rid of of the problem, correct?

Thanks for the help!

Yeah there isn't any tunes yet for our car. But you can drive in sport or tow mode all the time so MDS doesn't engage. Lol

Re: 2014 magnaflow Exhaust problem

Oh wow. Yeah after rereading your first post, it is definitely not the MDS .... have you checked for exhaust leaks? And which model magnaflow did you use? Part number?

Re: 2014 magnaflow Exhaust problem

No leaks I don't believe.? Very reputable shop that did it. The part number is 11386. From what I have seen there's a handful of guys that have done it prior 2014 so I ran with it.

Almost makes me think needs more back pressure. I had a c250 benzo that was stock turbo and when I took the resonators and muffler off it was farting. Then I put the muffler back on it stopped.

Stumped man. Last thing I want to do its put resonators back on. Was thinking of possibly doing two mufflers maybe then xpipe on then straight out to tips.?? So it would add more back pressure without putting resonators on to quiet things up? Also heard resonators are strictly sound and have nothing to do with back pressure. Lost man.

Thx for the help for sure.

Re: 2014 magnaflow Exhaust problem

This is quite interesting, I would check for leaks anyways, these truck are big enough to get under without a problem. Also that magnaflow muffler should have the internal xpipe design.

I wonder what this farting sound is exactly. Because if its like gurgling/popping, i like that sound. but im sure that is not what your talking about right?

Lol well the whole point of mufflers and resonators are to keep the people in the car from hearing unwanted exhaust noises/notes.

Maybe possible have a friend try and record the noise as you try and duplicate the sound.

Re: 2014 magnaflow Exhaust problem

I too removed my resonators about 6 months ago and just recently removed the suitcase muffler and installed 2 Magna Flow mufflers P/N 12226 with no resonators and it runs great. There is a litttle bit of a hesitation when it switches out of MDS under acceleration in auto mode, but when I put it into sport it's fine (it did it before the magan flows too). I do love the sound though. When you are getting on it with the windows up it will rattle you teeth good .

Re: 2014 magnaflow Exhaust problem

Fyi, I took the resonators off on my 2014 5.7 end n farting, popping, nor drone. I still have the stock muffler in place. Id love to be able to replace the muffler though lol.

Re: 2014 magnaflow Exhaust problem

Actually just realized it only happens in sport mode right before it switches gears between 1-3rd When it read lines then farts and switches gear? Doesn't happen in normal mode with Eco off at all..?
