2014 Summit 5.7 Mopar CAI installed

As the title states, What a great quality intake. I really have nothing negative to say about it. Sound is awesome and i am getting about 1-2mpg better then before. I don't see how that's possible but whatever lol. I really am extremely pleased on how well it actually fit. I have installed numerous CAI's on past vehicles before and something always touches at least somewhere. The mopar CAI has plently of clearance everywhere. Engine feels smooth aswell, i really cant compare it to stock as the truck only has about 200 miles on it. And i haven't really laid into it prior. But it was definitely worth it for the sound alone, quite cruising then when you give it a little gas you can actually here the engine. I give it a thumbs up for any '14 hemi owner.

part number 77070041,2014 fitment not listed yet but like previous years it is the same. And here is the proof!

Re: 2014 Summit 5.7 Mopar CAI installed

Nice man, the sound truly is mean isn't it?

From the picture, it looks like there is a large gap where the intake tube goes through the heatshield to the filter.. is this true? also what is the diameter of the pipe?

Yes has a nice deep growl. Not sure of the diameter of the pipe, but it definitely is slightly larger then stock. The pipe has a welded bracket to it that bolts to the existing bolt/hole on the power steering pump.Mopar supplied a litter longer bolt to replace the factory one with. The pipe doesn't move. It basically floats in between the heat shield.

I'll measure the pipe, sitting in the garage cuz we just got the diesel. I think it's 3.5". I loved it, but was surprised at the gap around the pipe, my AEM on my charger seals around the pipe well. But made good noises when you wanted, and quiet when when cruising...and the butt dyno definitely said it added hp

Re: 2014 Summit 5.7 Mopar CAI installed

yeah I don't know why they would have such a large gap between the heat shield and the pipe like that.. its almost defeating the purpose of the heat shield.

Preferred the tighter fit of the K&N, but I like the Mopar name on the tube.

Re: 2014 Summit 5.7 Mopar CAI installed

^That is a nice piece also, i am just not a fan of oiled filters.

For anyone wanting to close the gap, all you really need to do it just get some heater hose slice it in half and just place it around the opening with a little silicone.Their is actually a seal around the opening also that mopar supply's.So without it the opening would be even larger.Dosent bother me,and i am sure it has no effect on performance.I would think the aluminum heat shield already kills any actual cold air, lol.

But like stated, i liked the idea that it is a Mopar piece. It sure does sound mean,i have gained 1.3 mpg difference over 200 miles so far*don't no how but i have*. And the throttle feels less laggy.

I would be careful. I bet the gap exists because the heat shield/bracket is body mounted (doesn't move) and the tube is engine mounted (moves a little when engine is torqued)..could be wrong but that's my guess.

BTW, very nice looking CAI's but I am diggin' the Mopar bling.

Yes,sure does look good, tube has a brace that gets bolted to the top of the power steering pump(not visible in picture). It doesn't move one bit, even if it did rubber heater hose wouldn't permanently stop it,you would just use it instead of the gasket mopar supply's, by doing this it would just make the gap smaller. But no we're near as fully closing it.

guys has anyone dyno'd the mopar intake? any idea on actual real world hp and torque gains? (i.e. not butt dyno or manufacturer claim)

Don't hold your breath waiting for any real world HP and or torque gains....
Because there aren't any.

But that Mopar CAI with it's K&N oiled cotton gauze air filter will definitely allow more dirt and fine particulate into any engine that has one installed.

This all has been discussed many times on this forum. Do a search!
