The intake tract is much shorter on the new version but the pre-16 intake could work with some cutting. I'll keep everyone posted.
By more curves and baffles, I assume you also mean the TB sits on the opposite end of the block from 11-15's. Unless the 15 is the same front exit intake, I don't have a clue,r Its not likely an 11-14 K&N is going to be at all "easy" or clean without some reasonable skill.

I'm 100% sure they'll have intakes for this application soon since it's a reasonable market and less material/parts they can charge the same for.

Re: 2016 3.6L Pentastar Cold Air Intake?

I have a 2016 durango as well as a 2015 jgc, i bought a intake for a 2015 and cut it up and made it work. If i did it all over i would get 2 ebay intakes and piece em together a little more clean.

Hell it works and sounds completely different than my jeep with i take

So just did a muffler and resonator delete, installed a custom Ypipe and Borla ProXs, definitely has a lot more grumble, just need them to make a cai for this thing and I'm all set...take a listen, whattya think?

Let us know what you think after installing, I was waiting for the enclosed AFE Power intake but I might just go with whats available.

Will do, I was thinking about that one too but don't know if the enclosed intake muffles a little of the sound which I kinda want, plus I've used the k&n on 3 different trucks and loved it...we'll see

Re: 2016 3.6L Pentastar Cold Air Intake?

after seeing the k&n setup, i did some research. i was curious about the actual filter element itself. i compared numbers with the application i had prior (09 dodge charger 5.7l) they both use the same filter and adapter numbers for both k&n kits. so in theory, so long as the mopar cai setup for the charger has the same outlet diameter as the k&n, you could order a mopar filter to replace the k&n one.

again, not completely positive on the correct fitment. just something worth noting.

The only reason I was wanting to try the AFE Closed air intake instead of these open filter types was because of the estimated hp/tq claims. I know none of then do much for a 3.6L but all of the open style claim 10-12 hp and 10-13 tq. The closed AFe Momentum GT Pro 5R claims 21hp and 23tq gains.

Figured if I was going to add the noise might as well install the one that claims the most gain from a name brand intake?

Re: 2016 3.6L Pentastar Cold Air Intake?

Just got off of the phone with AEM, apparently the parent company owns four CAI/filter companies (KN/AEM/Air Raid and Specter) each company has essentialy the same performance gains (albeit they might look different). I just purchased an Air Raid from Amazon for $147 (like new in box). Considering the KN/Air Raid and AEM (if/when it comes out) will be about the same performance gains, I thought saving $250 off of the AEM and $150 from the KN was worth it. I just purchased an AEM drop in this weekend and will be sending it back... price difference was only $100, customer service said the observed gain was ~11 HP @ 6000 RPM. I'd be happy with a 5 hp gain and a little better sound...
