So i finally got my 2016 JGC with the new upgraded 3.6L Pentastar. Coming from my 09 AWD Hemi Charger, I know the improvement in acceleration a Cold Air Intake can make. Since this is a new setup for 2016 and the only application so far, i was curious if anyone knows of one available for it yet or if one is in the works by FCA?

Not this car but every single car I've owned previously (13 cars so far) I've had aftermarket CAI intakes on they did nothing but add noise. I spent 5k on a Dinan carbon fiber intake system for my V10 m5 and it did jack shit lol except look cool and sound throaty
even with a tune.

Drive one with an aem dryflow drop in or a CAI intake, I'd bet the one with the dryflow drop in drives better and gets better MPG for 45 bucks instead of 250-300. I know I'm up 2-3 mpg with my aem drop in on my jeep it has definitely made a difference.

There's really nothing left to squeeze out of NA cars these days they make the motors very efficient at producing power from the factory.

"Imprezzie" is correct even the drop in filters do make a noticeble difference especially in the the lower end of the rpm range.
" cold air intake" is a misnomer if it is not pulling cooler air from outside the engine bay.

I have an aFe Power Momentum GT intake on my 2012 3.6 and I will say this on a stretch of road from light to light prior to the momentum I have never been able to do better than 78 mph on the stretch.

Since the installation of the momentum intake i have been able to acheive speeds up 83 mph. Truth be told the truck does not feel any faster but the MPH show improvement.

On another road I could do better than 81, the last time I tried a run on that Road I was at 89 and I had to get on the brakes a whole lot harder. These are roads I have been messing around on and have seen constant results.

So a perfomance intake does make a difference, is the induction noise a good trade off is the price a good trade off. You be the judge.

I would just get an aem dryflow drop in filter and call it a day just for the MPG gains alone it's worth the 45 bucks for the lifetime filter. I'm up 2mpg average.

Performance is negligible no matter what but paying 300 bucks for an intake that will typically do nothing or make you lose power is just plain dumb.

The pentastar, is the basic bread and butter engine.

To save money I thinK there are only 2 or 3 different intakes for the 3.6 depending on the application.

The new revised pentastar still seems to have a better intake.

I didn't buy my momentum intake looking for gains hp.

I am delighted to say that the only negative (to me is the slight increase in induction noise.

I live on a Caribbean island where you have to ship in everything. The local chrysler dealer wanted $48.00 for an OEM replacement filter.

So at the time I decided to buy a aFe pro dry S panel filter so I did not have the recurring cost of buying air filters throughout the term of ownership.

A year later aFe released the momentum intake for the 5.7. I wrote them asking if they were going to make one for the 3.6. They didn't respond right away... then I saw they released one for the 3.6 in late 2015.

The biggest reason I wanted to try the momentum GT was from many of the posts that PADGETT made from when he modified his intake and was measuring his intake air Temps and coolant temps. His climate was close to mine since he is in Florida. (He had kept the air box and modified the intake tube claiming that the resonator heated the intake and he saw a reduction in intake Temps by removing it.)

Here are some pics of the intake from a 2016 GC v6. It has more curves and baffles than the previous version. My "friend" is going to try adapting a 2015 K&N CAI to this new setup. The intake tract is much shorter on the new version but the pre-16 intake could work with some cutting. I'll keep everyone posted.

Let us know what you think after installing, I was waiting for the enclosed AFE Power intake but I might just go with whats available.

after seeing the k&n setup, i did some research. i was curious about the actual filter element itself. i compared numbers with the application i had prior (09 dodge charger 5.7l) they both use the same filter and adapter numbers for both k&n kits. so in theory, so long as the mopar cai setup for the charger has the same outlet diameter as the k&n, you could order a mopar filter to replace the k&n one.

again, not completely positive on the correct fitment. just something worth noting.

Just got off of the phone with AEM, apparently the parent company owns four CAI/filter companies (KN/AEM/Air Raid and Specter) each company has essentialy the same performance gains (albeit they might look different). I just purchased an Air Raid from Amazon for $147 (like new in box). Considering the KN/Air Raid and AEM (if/when it comes out) will be about the same performance gains, I thought saving $250 off of the AEM and $150 from the KN was worth it. I just purchased an AEM drop in this weekend and will be sending it back... price difference was only $100, customer service said the observed gain was ~11 HP @ 6000 RPM. I'd be happy with a 5 hp gain and a little better sound...
