2017 upgrades?

I've been reading forums and different reviews on a couple products I'm looking at for our new 2017 3.6L summit.

One is the aFe Power 77-16204 Sprint Booster, I've read 2016 owners saying this works on there 3.6l so I'm guessing it should on the '17's?

The second is the aFe Power 54-76207 Momentum GT Performance Intake System, same thing as above. I've read reviews and threads that 2016 owners have said they fit and work with their 3.6L, some retail sites even list these to work up to 2016.

I'm looking for better throttle response, merging onto the highway seems lacking compared to our previous Cadillac SRX 3.6L.

Just wondering if for a little over $725 that I'll feel the results, I know its a jeep not a race car but there doesn't seem to be many options for the newer WK2 3.6l engines.

Any 2016-17 owners confirm or give reviews of either of these products?

I know, I couldn't afford the extra $$$ on the Hemi. More like my wife wouldn't let me spend any more than we were, before rebates this one was $60,000 and some change. We only paid $52,000 for our Cadillac SRX performance, so spending that much on a Jeep didn't go over well in her mind.

These mods will be installed without her knowing, it's her Jeep but I still have to drive when ever we go somewhere as a family.

I always get the mod bug on our vehicles.

My Harley Street glide started as a 96" engine with maybe 68 hp/ 72 tq, Now it has a 120" engine putting out 132hp and 138 tq.

My GMC 3500 6.6l TD is completely deleted with 5" exhaust 3" down pipe, intake lift pump and running a +150 hp tune.

Even my sons mini bike got the 3hp engine pulled and an 8 hp engine installed.

From reading these two mods might help slightly so I'm just looking for feed back.

PS, don't tell my wife I'm messing with her Jeep!

Re: 2017 upgrades?

I don't have a 16-17 GC but I have a 2014 and ran both of these upgrades at one point...the Sprint booster gives you the perception of a faster jeep due to faster throttle response....

but it doesn't really do anything other than that...the CAI Intakes make the jeep SOUND louder...but I wouldn't say its enough HP to really feel (10-15HP)

SO...if you want snappier throttle and a louder engine then go for those upgrades...I just don't think you'll realistically notice an improvement in HP or performance...not enough HP to feel

I even tried these mods with a full custom exhaust + 2 different ported Throttle bodies and it still wasn't that much faster or more powerful than stock

I ended up going the supercharger route on my 3.6L as that seems to be the only way to really make BIG HP gains on the V6

just my $.02

$60,000 !! I paid like $48K + something. Only difference is I don't have the DVD entertainment.

Well I'm sure a 3.6L sedan will out perform a 3.6L 2.5 ton SUV.
But I certainly find it is VERY zippy. Now it might rev a lot higher than a V8. But on 0-60 it's like 0.5 seconds slower to the Hemi.

Also there was a member here a while back that put a K&N (I think) intake on it. Sounded VERY nice, it's on Youtube. I don't know how much power it gave him, but he took it off because it was too loud.

You might try driving another at the dealer, just to be 100% sure yours is running up to snuff. Once in a while I'll stomp on it with my wife in the car getting on the highway. And we both joke about wishing it had more get up and go.

I do find the PUG Engine to be a little more refined and better throttle response than the 2015/2014 I had.

The Cadillac SRX is a crossover, it weighs about 260lbs less than the jeep.

I'm not looking for louder so I'll pass on the intake, it's already louder than were use to.

I'm going to read up some more on the SB but it looks like that might help a little more towards what I'm looking for.

I don't think I'd mess with a supercharger until the warranty is up, but It does sound fun!

The $60,000 was the MSRP with the dealer added options and extended warranty, the end price was way below that. But seeing that number attached to the window made my wife want to walk away and look at something else.

Yeah...its definitely fun...but if you're not careful with the boost you throw at the stock 3.6l you could end up like me ....picking up parts off the street ...like this

Yeah my wife would kill me if that happened, are you running stock trans?

Seeing the stage one and two videos on youtube they never mention if they have to build the transmission to hold the extra power.

Re: 2017 upgrades?

Air intake = noisemaker.
Sprint booster = electronically alters acceleration tap in.

Look into this ...... Dodge, Jeep & Chrysler Tuning | Jeep Chip | Dodge Programmer & More | Diablo | SCT

Stock:
Cadillac .....265ft-lbs @2500 rpm
Jeep.......... 260ft-lbs @ 4000 rpm

I've used hemifevertuning on my dodge ram Hemi in the past, actually drove to his house to pick it up and talk to him about it. Great guy, very knowledgeable!

I'm just not ready to pay for an unlocked ECU and tuner just yet, since I'm under warranty. The intake and Sprint booster could be removed and returned to stock pretty easy, not sure if the dealer would notice the ECM had been removed or not?

The stock tranny holds up fine to the stage 1 and stage 2

I was putting down ~420AWD HP through the stock tranny and it held up no prob...

My stage 3 setup should be closer to 500 AWD HP from the new 3.6L setup...I have a modified Torque Converter but haven't been able to find a new Tranny solution stronger than the stock one...so I have a spare tranny for when this one blows..when that happens I'll be forced to start looking for something

If I was to do it all over again I'd have just gotten the SRT from the Start and modified that ...at least upgrades are available easily for the SRT

not to mention they're cheaper than trying to have custom parts made for the 3.6L ...since no one is ever stupid enough to try to make a V6 into a 600Hp + Jeep...except me ..
