5.7 Eco Mode

Just wondering at what speed does the eco-mode kick in, and what is the top speed you can drive in eco mode? Thanks

Re: 5.7 Eco Mode

I believe the ECO mode is linked to the RPM and not the speed. If you look at the RPM gauge, you will see a green zone. This is were ECO mode is enabled.

'Eco' does not exclusively mean your 5.7 has MDS active. All it means is at that period and time you're driving the vehicle at the most Economical Fashion. ie. Light Foot -- Auto Mode (ie. not stick mode)

Re: 5.7 Eco Mode

I feel the MDS kick in around 40MPH. I have never felt or heard it under that speed. The ECO light on the dash comes on under light throttle at 10 MPH or more in mine.

It would be nice to have the ECO light go along with the MDS, i am not sure why it doesn't.

Re: 5.7 Eco Mode

Good info, also, if the ECO is not linked directly to the MDS activation, who do I know when the MDS is activated? Are there any cues?

Re: 5.7 Eco Mode

At what speeds does MDS kick on and off at? Would MDS still be on at 75 mph?

Re: 5.7 Eco Mode

eco mode = ignore. (aka, turn off).

Honestly, there is nothing economical about driving a 5k SUV with a big V8.

I read 82 mph is the cut off (but that was regarding the new 2012 6.4 L V8 Hemi SRT8), so don't know if it's the same for the 5.7 L or if that's even accurate.

Re: 5.7 Eco Mode

Very True... I drive 18000 + miles/year I probably would be better off with the v-6. I was trying to get a feel for hwy and suburban mileage. Thanks

You can't turn off the ECO mode, you can remove the indicator from flashing on the EVIC.

While there may be nothing economical about a 360HP SUV, it sure is fun!

FWIW, I average 16.8mpg during my weekly commute: 13-miles, 45min each way with a lot of lights and stop & go as I work on a Military Installation. I have averaged 20-mpg a round-trip for the few "long" trips (150+ miles one way) i've taken.

I am more than happy with this and from what I've read on this forum the V6 is marginally better, like 15%.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to turn this into a V6 vs V8 MPG thread - plenty of those exist.
