Re: 5.7 hemi Corsa redesign

Well the new tips are the same no difference. The snow we got melted and I decided to get under the Jeep and take a look myself. My mechanic said there was nothing he could do. WRONG. I loosened up a couple of clamps and got about an inch more forward and raised them. He didn't have the expansion joints push in all the way. The only clamps I didn't touch, are the ones on the front of X pipe. Probably could get more out of it,but I'm satified... If you want things done right you have to do them yourself... Things are much better. They still stick out some but that's the way they want it. So fumes don't go under the vehicle and the Corsa name shows.. As far as the sound, I'm loving it...and I'm 65 years old. I feel like a kid again. lol

Corsa wanted me to push the entire system forward from the X pipe on up.

Did you get that response?

Yes... The rubber hanger thingy for the mufflers should be tilted forward. Not straight up and down.

Re: 5.7 hemi Corsa redesign

Got my Corsa cat-back installed today. The installer had the tips lined up but stated once everything gets tightened and heated up they may move a bit and they did inward. Overall, I'm happy with it because they are symmetrical.

Re: 5.7 hemi Corsa redesign

My driving impression of the new redesigned Corsa exhaust. I friggin hate it. At WOT, it sounds nice but cruising around town the thing sounds like a Dodge pickup truck. During my morning commute, it drones at low load levels and it's loud enough you can hear it with the radio on. Not happy, will call Corsa to see if they still sell the older style mufflers, if they don't then I'm going to purchase stk. mufflers and put them back on.

As far as any performance improvement, we saw gains and losses within 2 to 3rwhp. Basically, all within the area of dyno error.

Thanks
Michael Plummer

What should it sound like at low load levels? Do you want it to sound louder around town. You compare it to a Dodge pickup. Just curious what you looking for.

What were you expecting by adding this exhaust? Was the other corsa system much quieter diring normal driving?

In my opinion, I would like to have an exhaust note like stk at low load levels with no drone. The Corsa drones in low load driving conditions. It was my understanding that this system didn't drone but it does. In traffic, the constant rumbling and resonating is anoying. I'll take a video when I get a chance.

Where the Corsa excels is at WOT, It's a lot louder than stk and that is fine with me. But now my luxury SUV sounds like a pickup truck when driving around town and that in my opinion is not good.

If Corsa sells the older mufflers, I'll buy them. If not, I'll put the stk. Mufflers back on.

Thanks

Have you heard the older style mufflers? Are they quieter around town?

Re: 5.7 hemi Corsa redesign

Based on the videos I watched with people driving around town the system seemed to be quiet. Corsa doesn't sell the older style mufflers which they say are quieter. So I'm going to reinstall either the stk mufflers or the whole system.

There is no performance gain that I saw on the dyno, buying this system is strictly a sound thing. In my opinion, the newer muffler design isn't better, it's just louder.

I'm sure the MDS or Economy mode has something to do with the sound but it drones at low load levels.

Thanks
Michael Plummer
