Which place is usually cheaper? I would like to get on a list for one.

I ordered mine direct from Corsa, the price was $1239.00 I think? It's on their website. I quoted May as the estimated delivery time, that was incorrect, it is actually April 15th. Tax Day! I just discovered a oil leak in my garage floor this morning when my wife left. Bummer!

Okay, I am sorry for all of the confusion? All that I have been doing since we bought our GC this past Saturday is ordering accessories and have already spent another $4000.00 or so! The correct price from Corsa is $1759.00. Sorry that I got everyone excited. That is with the polished tips, the black is more.

I believe the 14457 is $1450 ish OTD delivered from autoanything so the revised should be close.

sorry for my HUGE post....

First one of the resonators blew it's insides out and sounded like death. I found the contact info on the forums for a gentleman at Corsa who could help me out. Once I provided proof of purchase they immediately shipped me a new set of resonators.
Sounds about right. Some had quality issues with early systems in the '12/'13 timeframe and that old stock probably took awhile to be sold. The issue I heard, besides wonky fitment, was the baffles would break loose inside and it would sound like soup cans rattling around. As you experienced they stand behind their product. Definitely understand the pita factor but these days seems like everything has an "issue" or two so I find it's more about what is done to make things right than the problem itself.

So, I had a guy I know who's a mechanic re-weld both hangers for me gratis....
That sux. It's too late now and maybe you did this but did you call him when the email when unanswered? Maybe the email server "ate it" or went in the spam folder or...you get my point...not judging just suggesting that I think they would have taken care of you had contact been successful. Glad you were resourceful and had a Plan B.

This new development has made me hesitate...
Who installed the system? Has it ever been checked for proper torque? The torque is extremely important on this system, really. The flanges get 30 ft-lbs and the band clamps get 45 ft-lbs. This strikes the balance of tight/loose for hot/cold and allows for proper system expansion. If someone just tightened down "all the way" then there is no room for proper expansion and contraction with the individual segments in the system. 45 ft-lbs is not cranked to the max just well snugged. There is definitely room to way overtighten the band clamps. The flanges will just start to bow towards each other at 30 ft-lbs..

That's kinda the only thing I don't like about going with this improved version. The tone also seems like it's shifted lower, more into Borla territory (i had a borla on my WK1 5.7 for 5 years)
Well, sound is so subjective ya know so hmmm....

"braaap", now that's my speed...nothing goes "braaap" like a 2-stroke motocross bike. It's also been called a blaat and a fart some don't like it some do, I do! And, yes, the new system still has it for sure.

don't know if this will help but here's a review of my clips side by side since they are from the same vehicle and the same person (that's me ) recording them using the same device using the same settings they should proved the most accurate side-by-side you are gonna get....

Startup/idle:

Old 14457 Corsa Catback

New 14491 Corsa Catback:

0-60 Exterior:

Old 14457 Corsa Catback

New 14491 Corsa Catback:

0-60 Interior:

Old 14457 Corsa Catback

New 14491 Corsa Catback:

Keep in mind all my clips are with the Volant CAI and I of course have the 8spd tranny as was mentioned.

Overall, I like the new system better. The startup is lower toned but in a beefier, bellowing kinda way. The new version make the old version sound like muffler slip-ons, that is to say, the old system sounded "thinner". The new system is a little tamer sounding when tooling around but is more aggressive WOT...man describing sounds with words is tough...

hope some of this helps....

It is likely that it never landed on his desk, so I'm not going to judge Corsa on that. At the time I was in need of a rapid solution since the left muffler was hanging pretty precariously below the rear bumper and I was genuinely concerned that some real damage might be done if I left it that way, since the pipe joints and other exhaust hangars were probably holding up much more weight than their design specs called for, especially jiggling around on the bumpy aweful roads around here. It was either have somebody fix the Corsa welds or pull it off and put the stocker back on temporarily. I made a judgment call at that point.

This is also very possible. I installed the system in the driveway (setting the air suspension to ORII, disabiling it, and using a pair of ramps provided lots of room to work). I'm sure we hit everything with gorilla strength when we did it, so I would not be surprised if we over-tightened all the clamps and probably the flanges too.

The only thing I will say is that the system looked, sounded, and operated A-OK for like 18 months before the first problem developed, so I'm not convinced that it's 100% related to over torquing the hardware either.

My game plan before I drop another $1600 for the upgraded version is to remove the entire system and re-install everything slowly, carefully, and to the Corsa specifications. I ordered a brand new set of band clamps because some of the existing ones are pretty corroded. NY winters do murder to the underside of the truck.

EDIT: it's also worth mentioning that I did some casual experimenting this morning. I put on gloves and pulled downward a bit on the tips, and the cold exhaust stops rattling. feels like it's maybe making very slight contact with the body somewhere up towards the front.

I do want to be very clear for the sake of those people considering a Corsa system and reading this. I'm not laying blame on Corsa for the troubles. There were some known issues with 2012-2013 era versions and Corsa handled them. My problems could be 100% user error for all I know. I love this exhaust, and I think it's the best one out there for the 5.7 WK2.
