I know some people are against the contracts but how I drive it; it was needed.

So what I am asking is if anyone has had any issues with warranty or extended warranties when upgrading to an aftermarket exhaust. I very badly want to hear that 5.7, but not at the cost of the "suits" voiding my contract.

Thank-
Don't worry about exhaust voiding any warranty. There are laws you can read somewhere that specifically state they need to prove the mod caused issues and exhaust isn't going to hurt anything

Re: 5.7L Hemi - DIY Exhausts?

My $0.02:

My SRT was QUIET for a 6.4L 400+hp engine. Period! I chopped the resonators off and had no drone, it opened it up a little but still left a lot to be desired. If you chop the resos off and add some nice mufflers (ditch the stock "baffle/canister" thing) I think you would be very happy. I have the full Corsa cat-back on now and it is perfect for my needs: no drone @ 80+ mph with mds on/off, cold-start is amazing and it opens up VERY nicely. Now I know we are talking two different engines, but if the 6.4L doesn't have drone with the stock muffler and no resos, why not try chopping off the resos first and see how it sounds.

My buddy is going to take my stock exhaust, chop the canister off and add two in-line mufflers on his 3.6L (no resos). There are others on here that have done that with success.

IMO on a $50k+ Jeep go basic or all-out. I wish I would have done the Corsa full cat-back first. Live and learn.

Good luck! Let us know what you decide

What about Borla?

I have the Corsa Extreme on my 5.7 Hemi Challenger and I love it. I'm thinking the Borla (only available in Sport) would be a good option for my Hemi Grand Cherokee.

Personally, I think the Corsa is great on a muscle car, but maybe a bit too aggressive for a luxury SUV.

Anybody have experience with the Borla?

Re: 5.7L Hemi - DIY Exhausts?

Guys I'm having the exact same thoughts!!!! after doing so much research I dont think Im going to do itmyself. Here's some quick info I found...

The BORLA has a touring, ATAK and S-type exhaust systems. but I think you can only get the touring on the 5.7hemi GC.

here's the touring version on you tube...

https://youtu.be/Amz5ahVMtfw

The CORSA comes a few different ways too...Touring, Sport, Extreme and non-designated default systems where there is only one sound level.

here's the CORSA...(actually shows both side by side)

https://youtu.be/2HH-Cnpq5jM

Im going to go with the BORLA -I thinks it's a little less obtrusive for a $50k SUV.

Re: 5.7L Hemi - DIY Exhausts?

Hello all,
I just registered here and was very interested in the discussions about your Jeep Grand Cherokee exhaust discussions. I just purchased my 4th Jeep. I have the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland High Altitude 5.7L Hemi. I have already installed a CAI and wow it made a difference in sound and pick up. I am also looking for a cat back performance exhaust system. I have looked on you tube and found that it seems difficult to find something for the Overland. I spoke to Corsa and Borla and the Summint and Overland do match up. I had a 2001 Grand Cherokee limited with the 4.7L and had the Borla cat back and the K&N CAI and loved it. I was hoping to go with them but with the tips on my overland, I am finding that Corsa is the only option unless you go totally custom.
I have never heard the Corsa exhaust in person and am very curious if it is a great choice. I have only heard them on you tube and it sounds good there.

Any help is appreviated,
Tige22Vman

Re: 5.7L Hemi - DIY Exhausts?

I have a Corsa Extreme on my 5.7 Hemi Challenger and I love it. I think they only make the Corsa Sport for the Grand Cherokees. I was planning to add the Borla to my 5.7 Grand Cherokee Overland. Is there a fitment issue? You made it sound like the exhaust tips don't fit, but I was under the impression they fit just fine.-

I called Borla direct and spoke to a gentlemen who actually worked for Jeep service for 25+ years and knows the systems very well. Borla doesn't make a system specifically for the Overland and Summit. The touring Borla fits but the only issue is the Tips that come on this Borla system. The overland and summit have 8" oval shaped tips. You would have to cut those tips off and either weld the stock tips on or find optional tips you would prefer.

Re: 5.7L Hemi - DIY Exhausts?

That's interesting... maybe they changed the tips in 2016. My 2015 Overland and the Borla 140406 both appear to have 4" round tips.
