Soccer mom engine vs. Cowboy hat and boots engine.

They make more power and take less throttle input to get it moving

Correct. But whats than ? Means fuel effectiveness at 5.7 with fuel saving gears is just dream theory ? against dynamics ?

No not quite. Compare highway mileage and you'll see what I mean

Re: 5.7L Hemi - where's the horsepower hiding?

Well I have to say, I am very glad to hear the 8 speed is being a big improvement. The 3.6 in my 2013 JGC is a fantastic engine. It has 66m miles on it, and I switched over to using only NON ETHANOL gas since I had 20m miles on it. That's all I have used for the last 46m miles. The engine runs so sweet, and sounds quite special when floored on the highway to pass a car. I can imagine how it will be with a 8 speed transmission bolted to it.

Re: 5.7L Hemi - where's the horsepower hiding?

Everyone here seems to be missing the point. You all seem too caught up in your own mod experiences and supposed knowledge about certain things that are irrelevant here.

Regardless of the transmission and regardless of what bolt ons I've installed, I should still be able to feel some sort of increase in power.

I had a 93 ZJ with the 5.2L and 2 2004 WJ's with 4.0L and all three of these vehicles experience noticeable improvements in HP and Fuel economy with nothing more than intake and exhaust mods.

This WK2 is not built to be a fast vehicle. But power to weight ratio is about the same as my ZJ, and the stock gearing is too.

But this vehicle seems sluggish in comparison. Maybe I'm just spoiled, as it rips away from my buddy's 2015 Ford Explorer Limited.
But I feel like this engine should be doing more.

P.S.

I drove and raced a few Wk2's Overlands (cousin works at Chrylser dealership, and they all feel almost identical in acceleration.) We had 2 2015's, another 2011, and a 2012 with the 6 speed. And all were neck and neck up to about 75mph when we backed off.

No way in hell I'd own a 2014-2016... They look like EuroWannaBe's with the bumper/grille/headlight changes. Nor am I stupid enough to pay for a 2-3 year old vehicle while there is so much devaluation left to happen.

I'm hoping the 2017's get back to the more rugged look that the 2011-2013's had.

I guess I'm just spoiled and hoped for noticeable increases in acceleration with the same bolt ons that works for me before.

Well aren't you set in your ways and a tad arrogant.
