Re: Advice needed.. V6 or V8?

I agree, I am having much amusement.

But it was RedNeck who brought up the other brand, and FundGuy who brought up careers and bank accounts (as well as insulting mothers, which was not funny in the least and totally lame). I can't help but hitting their curve balls line-drive, head high back at them.

You'd be shocked. Like I said, there's more upside in the finance industry for the few at the top, but for 80% of people in the field I would venture to say Engineers make more money.

We don't have any kids yet, but if anybody is getting towards the middle of high school and is thinking about a career track...I'd seriously look at engineering.

My wife and I are both engineers and we live comfortably. Job security is pretty high depending on exact field and engineers are always in demand. No complaints from either of us. I also graduated with a few guys who did engineering for awhile and now work in finance. They also seem to be living comfortably, so it is hard to say which career field is more lucrative, if it really even matters. I also know engineers and finance guys who are getting walked over and making what I would call a low-average salary, so it really depends on location, employeer, etc. YMMV, obviously...

Is this the first message board you have ever been on? I am surprised more threads are not like this one.

For the record, RedNeck, your digs have been good-natured, and I've enjoyed tossing back at ya.

x2

I like "arguing" about cars and stuff. Don't like the personal insults too much though.

I see a lot of people's incomes in my line of work and Engineers are VERY well paid.
I have two engineering buddies, both are top in the field in pay. One flys around the world setting up power stations, the other is a Stanford Masters grad who works for Siemens. Both have been at their careers for 20 years. My dad and my dad's best friends were all engineers. My dad was the foremost authority on Nuclear hardening vs electromagnetic pulses in the 70s. None of them make half of what the average financial guy makes , which is north on average of $250,000. That's a silly assertion by you. Consistently for the pasy 20+ years investment banking is the number one paying profession abouve brain surgeon and Lawyer. Do your research.

Nor do I, but I will toss an equal one one back when delivered to me. My exception though is someone insulting my family- not even jokingly. When I grew up you just didn't go there, only complete and absolute scumbags did, and I have zero tolerance for it.

Re: Advice needed.. V6 or V8?

And I can see a V6 being practical if all you want to do is truck around the kiddies, but the V8 is best for fun driving, off road, and towing, not to mention resale which generally makes up for the difference in initial cost vs V6 and then some.

No, far from it...this is just one of the longer-lived threads that I have seen.
