Yes I did. Did you read the bullets? I'm not talking about the guy who sits in the bank ordering you checks which is included in the study. I'm talking about investment bankers, the 5th bullet. Geez. They even explain why most lists don't include it. I'm bored of this. Read before you make silly replies.

<LI itxtHarvested="0" itxtNodeId="244" nodeIndex="4">One high paying job that never makes a list due to the extremely competitive and relatively secretive nature of Wall Street is Sales & Trading / Investment Banking. A starting salary out of college/university for is $75,000 for the top investment banks with an annual bonus of $40,000-60,000. By the time of your first promotion (around 3 years), you can earn >$250,000. Top industry players make $1,000,000 per year.

Re: Advice needed.. V6 or V8?

Might want to read my post before you make silly replies. I quoted your fifth bullet and responded to it. I'll quote my response here again to make it easier on you:

Quote:
The key here is "TOP INVESTMENT BANKS" and "EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE". Thats like saying every attorney leaves law school and gets a job at a top NY, LA or DC firm making $175k to start. Thats just not true, the top 2% of graduates of the top 5% schools might earn that...but to say that is AVERAGE is a fallacy. That supprts what I was saying, which is there is more headroom, but on the whole I still stand by my statement that on average, engineers make more, its less competitive and stressful and their jobs are more secure.

I'm a real estate broker. I know many colleagues who make over $750k a year. Does that mean the average pay for a real estate broker is that high? Of course not, in fact the average is incredibly low due to the fact that probably 10% of the people in the field do the business. My business too can be a very lucrative business, I make a very good living as do many others, but MANY fail...its a very stressful field and the consequences to your quality of life even with success are significant (i.e. money isn't everything), as is the case in your field. Would I recommend it to my child over a career in engineering where they won't have the risk that I have, or the stress...I don't think I would.
And I know exactly what you are talking about. I'm actually out of town visiting family sitting in the house of a NYC investment banker right now.

Well my job has them as clients. I meet with hundreds a year for the past decade or so. No way the average engineer makes anything close. And I've heard other studies that peg the average at around 250k with top guys into 8 figures. Course they typically manage into the billion range which is not typical.

Oh and smaller base engines stink. Go big or go home.

Don't forget about the engineers who work alongside the doctors designing the instruments, implants and robots that they use on a daily basis.

Re: Advice needed.. V6 or V8?

Been reading this post since the beginning. Thanks for all the entertainment. I now feel so bad about my own financial situation, I may have to do myself in. People who quote wiki sources, and public comments to back their assertions of fact, really impress me. The wealthiest people I have ever met, mostly in the medical field, are generally a humble bunch who dont brag about it. I used to think Jeep owners were down to earth outdoor loving, live and let live types. Since the WK2, seems like times are changing. Im no expert....but I play one on the web

How can something be average, but not typical?

Believe what you want, but that statement just fundamentally makes no sense.

Re: Advice needed.. V6 or V8?

Back to V6 vs V8 Looking to buy my 1st GC and deciding on v6 vs v8. Read all threads on the dilemma . Seems that people who got V6 are happy and those , who got V8 ....happy too . Couple of my friends who have V6 , said that v8 will have more mechanical problems. What do you guys think/ your experience ?
I am looking at 2012 overland
