AFE Cold air intake issue

Hi,
I installed a 54-12242 AFE cold air intake on my 2012 WK2 last fall.
I only have around 3,500 miles on it and have an issue. I wanted to pass this on to others.
It seems the intake tube is rubbing on the underside of the hood.
I contacted AFE and they told me that they are aware of the problem.
I contacted them again today and was told that they are still working on a solution and maybe i should reinstall my factory intake until a solution is
made. What good is that. If i take it off I willl go buy another brand and
send this back to them. I wanted the dry element. I have owned AFE products in the past on my old WK and it was great.
Just giving the heads up on this issue. I'm posting the pictures of the damage.

Evolv0 is just really nice
Re: AFE Cold air intake issue

As I was installing the Brembo BBK on my car not too long ago, I noticed my AFE intake was rubbing in the same spot on my hood... im just gonna try loosening the hose clamps and twisting the pipe downward as best as possible.

That's what I did when I installed mine. I noticed then it was right against the hood. Mine is still slightly touching the hood but after 5000 miles none of the paint has rubbed off yet.

I was thinking about a wrap. Something that would also help with heat soak?

Re: AFE Cold air intake issue

I had this same problem with my aFe CAI. What you need to do is loosen the pipe clamps and adjust the aluminum intake pipe down so it doesn't sit up so high.

It's very easy to do.

Re: AFE Cold air intake issue

I tried to loosen mine up and move it.
Did not help. It almost looks like
The intake tube diameter is wrong.
I'll probably wait and see what the fix is from AFE
