Re: AFE Momentum GT CAI - anyone tried it?

put my afe intake on my jeep Saturday morning. I haven't driven much with it on but I gotta be honest I don't really notice much. maybe a little more sound when I accelerate? performance wise im not really noticing much then again I haven't really driven it all that much. as far as installation I was kind of disappointed with afe. I called them because I needed some help with the air sensor and the guy I spoke to had about the same product knowledge as my cat. they also shorted me a clamp so now im using a half ass clamp from advance auto parts. maybe with an exhaust and a tune the intake will be better utilized.

That's not a good sign. Truthfully, when i've used K&N and Cold Air INductions you immediately notice the difference over stock. With what you are describing maybe that kit is a dud

yea I dunno man. I just got to keep driving it. I noticed this morning a little bit more pick up than normal on my way into work. it doesn't help either that I drive like a grandfather and im only 24! my wrangler turned me into a slow driver because well you cant go that fast with 35 inch tires. ill have to put my foot down more and see if I notice anything.

Re: AFE Momentum GT CAI - anyone tried it?

finally got the right clamp that AFE shorted me put on yesterday. got everything tightened up and it looks like everything is sitting right, but I did notice my MPG drop from about 15.6 to 15.0. Is this normal with CAIs?
I have noticed a better sound from the ending and MAYBE a little performance boost.

For the most part ive seen 1 mpg improvement over stock. Maybe, u might need to give it time and a few gas tanks...

Re: AFE Momentum GT CAI - anyone tried it?

Just put on the CAI and the quality is good. A couple minor drawbacks; I was also shorted a clamp in the kit and took a trip to the hardware store, the fit up could of been a bit better, I had to play with it a bit to get it all adjusted correctly.
The 5.7 sounded a bit meaner and I hate to comment on seat of the pants but there was something extra there. Overall it looks like a real cai and should help out more after tuning. A hemifever tune for Christmas is coming along with a catch can.

Re: AFE Momentum GT CAI - anyone tried it?

Any updates on this AFE set-up from you guys running it? Have the MPG's leveled out or increased? I'm considering this kit, and others, but have seen mixed reviews on CAI's in general. Thoughts?

X2, don't listen to the manufcturers marketing BS, a CAI for the Jeep 5.7 is a total waste of money. I removed mine (AFE II) after a year and found it actually drove worse than stock with a loss of torque and poorer tip in throttle response, plus that awful noise gets old real quick. The restriction with the Jeep 5.7 s the exhaust manifold, not the intake.

Any updates from people that have this installed? How is the sound? I'm trying hard to decide between this and the K&N and sound is a big factor.
