Re: aFe Power 5.7L CAI

Is it an enclosed system like the Volant or open like the K&N and Mopar?

Its a good mash between the two currently available styles. Part open / part sealed. Its more sealed than the K&N and Mopar, but less than the Volant.

Definitely makes the Mopar intake look like a cheap toy though...

Wrong............................................. .....

At the very least, DCX Speed Density systems do not "cancel" power increase. Changes to VE tables by fuel trims are made, which does change the WOT AFRs, but it doesn't "cancel" anything. If it does try limiting anything, it is via torque management, which is a byproduct of torque. This mainly happens on launches and shifts.

Everything these vehicles do- shifting, even changes in idle speed- is dictated by torque, or "torque requests".

I was thinking that his statement was "off", and you were able to explain it.

Thanks!

No problem. I don't mean to lash out but I see a ton of misinformation get passed around as fact, when in reality it's the furthest thing from. The PCM does not do magic

It'd be nice to remove the TM, but power gains are still there, as made evident by numerous threads on here.

Re: aFe Power 5.7L CAI

So, @FlyinRyan, if I was considering mods to my 5.7L, 2012, what would you recommend? And, are any of your "recommended packages" tested for hp increase?

Thanks

Obviously I wasnt as specific about what changes are made during the ecu relearn but all I stated was that "in essence" after the ecu relearn occurs then the performance gains initially realized with the new CAI will be greatly reduced.
