Re: aFe Power 5.7L CAI

That will be a welcome report 604. I didn't know Afe had a drop-in so inclined to do what Boom suggests in the meantime and also decide on an actual CAI brand. While the drop in may increase airflow 37% I guess I'm wondering if that increase can even be utilized? It is one thing to provide more airflow but do we know the existing factory 5.7 intake is inadequate and can utilize the increase - at least short of a chip combined with a CAI? I'm going to check on the drop-in in the meantime. Thanks for these ideas.

Re: aFe Power 5.7L CAI

Today I received an email from AutoAnything saying my shipping would be delayed by at least a month on the aFe so I am cancelling the order. To be honest I was partially regretting placing the order anyways and think I will end up ordering the Mopar.

If I had to guess, I would assume that Autoanything was a bit premature in showing the CAI as available. From what I have heard, the manufacturing of the preliminary batch has not yet been completed.

FYI
I ordered one yesterday from aFeintakestore.com and they called me today to tell me that, per aFe, shipping would be delayed 7-10 days as a new batch is being finished. I've read on other threads about long wait times so we'll see. Two weeks is one thing, two months is another...

Update: I got a tracking # on the 20th. It seems to be in route so I don't know what's going on with them

Update 2: 27Sept12. aFe Power SRI Installed.
Sounds awesome in high-suck mode. Deep and throaty sound that is worth every penny even if it doesn't improve performance. Only gets loud when getting on it, its quiet when just cruising. Fitment wasn't very impressive but good design overall and good quality of parts. I like how this design retains use the OE air scoop. Problem with fitment is that its just so damn big, it hits the hood liner slightly. Gets super hot as well, will need to thermal wrap. Pics coming.

No, moved from Louisiana to Wyoming in December and the average 0 degree temps lowered that project on the priority list. Bought the wrap though, maybe if warms up around here I'll get to it! Will post pics if I do.

Re: aFe Power 5.7L CAI

I know this is a long shot with an old thread but ....
any one with the afe installed how does it look like it will hold up to playing around in the mud or hitting some water with some good speed? The whole idea of the jeep is to go off road and I want a cai but don't want to worry about splashing water on my intake when hitting some water.
Thanks

I think aFe makes a closed box style like the Volant. I'd take a look at that or the Volant.
