Another Pentastar Trying To Wake Up

I'm not expecting magic parts to make my V6 perform like a V8 just looking interested in hearing what everyone has done to their Pentastars and how/if they got any good results out of it, MPG Gains Better Throttle Response, Acceleration.

The Parts I'm considering are:
CAI: K&N or an AFE CAI (Momentum?)
Dual Exhaust System (not so much for sound but to increase air flow): Stock Hemi dual exhaust or a Magnaflow dual exhaust system.
Tuner: Diablo Sport Trinity with hemifever custom tunes
Throttle Body Spacer: not too sure about this one

Any feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

P.S. excuse me if there are existing threads about this topic and these specific parts.

Re: Another Pentastar Trying To Wake Up

I have an Airraid CAI and just installed a 93 canned tuned via diablo DCX and it is way more responsive. I will be doing exhaust next in a month or two, then custom tune.

I might do Diablo first with canned tune just to get more driving satisfaction then other parts if I had to do it over again being on a budget and not able to get all at once

Re: Another Pentastar Trying To Wake Up

You have the right list of considered parts.

My set up:
Hemi exhaust
Afe pro dry s panel filter.
5w20 synthetic oil

I am considering the hemifever tuning tweaked tune and a trinity but haven't purchased yet.

The pro dry and the lower viscosity oil helped the mileage and the exhaust helped the flow.

Hope that helps

Re: Another Pentastar Trying To Wake Up

I have a brand new 3.6 intake manifold if anyone is interested in porting it to see if that makes a difference. Make me an offer.

Re: Another Pentastar Trying To Wake Up

hey Jeep_addicted how did you install the hemi exhaust. did you get a hemi suitcase muffler with two outputs as well. I am asking because I have two 2014 dual resonators but will need a middle exhaust or just an x-pipe if I can get away with it, if it is not too loud.

thanks

the tuner is very nice though

only thing is, take the spacer off as its a waste on these engines. a spacer will not benefit these engines because they are not throttle body injected. they are multi-port injection meaning the fuel is sprayed in just above the intake valves. the point of a spacer is to allow fuel more time to atomize and that just isn't possible here. now if it was carbureted or throttle body injected you would have some use

Re: Another Pentastar Trying To Wake Up

I tried the ported throttle body and that seemed to give it a little better response but no real noticeable power increase.

I then added a K&N Cai and that definitely made it louder so it seemed. Like it had more power..then I added the Gibson exhaust and it got even louder..I really liked the way it sounded at wot with the Cai and Gibson..it had a good sound to it

I've since gone back to the stock air box and even with a supercharger now it still doesn't sound as good as the K&N and exhaust but it's way faster

If you're looking for power then don't waste your money on the Cai/exhaust or throttle body

I haven't tried a tune but I know that makes more power than most of these other tweaks

Re: Another Pentastar Trying To Wake Up

Ajag's ride is very nice. Had the pleasure of seeing the car in person. The Diablo canned 93 tuned has really made the car jump and much more responsive. Can spin the the tires a bit on start up in auto mode which I never could before and passing on highway is much better. I imagine with a custom tune it should be even more responsive.

Very pleased with the tuner
