Well, the point of the thread was to say, it's not 'unhackable'. Just most likely cost prohibited for these companies to 'Hack' into the modern ECU's. It was also to put your Guard up a little bit by thinking that just because you have uber-encryption means you're safe. You're safe since it's not worth someones time to crack 128bit encryption to steal your credit card numbers -- It's easier to become a waiter at a restaurant since people give you their credit card numbers for free.

My guess is that Superchips are massaging their way into the ECU's (ie. Cracking), not 'hacking' them. They are smart dudes over there -- They won't disappoint us.

wow, guess they are serious in Aussieland. Here I've never seen a trailer ticket or heard of one and they don't pull you over unless you are doing 16 mph over the limit. Thats when the tickets get into the next points and fine bracket. They don't waste their time on the smaller ones and wait for larger ones. As a result, most traffic goes 10 mph over on highways as a regular speed. I have radar detector and laser jammers so I go at about 14 over pretty safely and drive about 50k miles a year.

Radar Detectors/Jammers are quite illegal over here and will get you into much trouble.

You do get fined over here for 0-15ks over, usually if you are doing 65 in 60 zone you are ok, but 10k's over you will probably get done. If you have trailer or are a truck etc then there is more chance to get caught. Trucks have a 100kph limit.

Radar Jammers are illegal in Australia, and carry very heavy penalties. Radar Detectors are legal only in Western Australia, and illegal in other states/territories and carry fairly harsh penalties.

As far as I know, (I was speaking to a policeman here in the ACT), the Speed Cameras are configured to allow 10% up to 70km/hr. Anything over that is capped at 7km/hr.

BUT, this does not apply to averages speed cameras or lasers, I'm not sure of the flexibility threshold of these devices.

When I used to live in WA, I used to find WA Police very anal, especially hiding multanovas in bushes etc. In ACT there are massive signs saying you're coming up to one or passing one. So if you get a ticket here you're a bit more of a n00b :P

I have only received a ticket once, and that was for going at a constant 130km/hr by GPS (135 or so on Speedo) in my HSV Grange, at 12:07AM on 27th January from Sydney to Canberra.

Lost 3/12 points and $270 fine, but thank fuark I was not caught 8mins earlier (double demerits) as well as going 131, (130 was 11-20 over the speed limit, not 21-30).

Not doing that again. I don't bother speeding now, its just not worth the fine/etc.

Hmm, not nice laws for the land that brought us Mad Max. Sorry guys. They actually call the WK2 a truck? lol Its a passenger vehicle not a commercial vehicle here. Same laws apply as a corvette.
