Re: Any new Updates heard for a WK2 Programmer - BullyDog, HyperTech, SuperChip

ok, just to be clear... after 15 pages of "thread" there is still NO custom tuning option available for this vehicle? What about all the "custom tuners" that advertise? Can they do it? or are we just talking about "plug and play" style tuning devices?

Re: Any new Updates heard for a WK2 Programmer - BullyDog, HyperTech, SuperChip

It has been my experiance that since about 2003 (at least with GM vehicles) that the factory tunning has been geared towards transmission longgevity. I say this because starting around that time is when we started getting huge jumps in HP and Torque from new engine designs and technology. In order to keep the increased torque from imploding the dated transmissions, the big three (with GM being the leader) started to employ soft shifts (by soft shift I don't mean how soft it feels to you and I) and Torque management. Basically, what has happened is that technology in the transmissions and axle shafts and such hasn't kept pace with the torque loads. By kept pace I mean the corporations don't want to spend the money to upgrade the parts when they can have their computer take 30+ degrees of timing out of the motor in between shifts and hard load situations. The end result is that you have a 360hp motor that feels about as fast as a 1988 Camaro with a 305. I know people are going to argue that the vehicles are faster now than they were, just look at the 1/4 mile times. The explanation for that is that the power is there and the higher in the tranny gears you are the less timing the computer takes out. At higher gears more stress is placed on the internals of the motor as opposed to the transmission, drive shaft, u joints etc. So the "big end" speeds are faster. If you look at 60 foot times as well as 1/8 mile trap speeds for most modern late model vehicles, they are deplorable. That is why with a little programming you can turn a modern sub par acting V8 into a modern muscle car with no added components.

I used to own a Nissan titan and there were only a couple of small markets that cracked the ecu and the programmer was 700 then a couple years later Bullydog finally massaged their way in, but we have a bigger market here so hopefully we will see something.

You're all gonna be waiting for some time.

May as well spend money on bolt-on mods....intakes, exhausts, TBs...etc. While there is power being left on the table, its not mandatory with the kind of mods people are doing right now.

Tuning will be here in time. I'm going to say sooner than some think and later than most want.

IMHO we will be lucky to see a Tuner before the summer.
