Most likely running in tow haul mode would prolong the transmission life sense hard shifts equal less heat and less heat equals longer life. This is the whole reason there is a tow haul mode. Soccer mom shifts pulling 8000 pounds would equal a few burned up clutches in the ole slush box.

to kill MDS in the hemi, change your oil to 10w30. it has sensors that tell it when the oil is thin enough to engage MDS and by changing your oil it wont let the system work but has NO negative effects on the engine. thats why it takes 5w-20. i ran amsoil 0w-30 in my 06 and MDS was on alot more, got avg 18 mpg with a lift and 35" tires in that truck with MDS on all the time. i only run Royal purple 5w-20 now and still operates the same and fixes the hemi tick issue.
or simply press the tow haul button.
on the rams there is also a wire you can clip that disables it also dont think anyone wants to cut wires on a new jeep though.

oh fyi, unless your watching for the light to come on in the dash you cant tell when its in MDS mode unless you have aftermarket exhaust. it engages and disengages so fast on the VVT hemi you never feel it. on my 06 i could feel it lightly, but on the new ones the lock-up is what you feel in the trans.

as for the tuner, i talked with superchips 2 weeks ago while i was waiting on my trans tuneing for my truck to get fixed i asked about the WK2 jeeps tuners and he said the 3.6 tuning is wrapping up and should be out soon (sometime this spring) and the hemi tunes are still having issues.

Interesting. I take that to mean that they have cracked the code and are working on actually the "Tuning" portion of their work.

Good news??

well, the hemi rams are there main market, and he said they had only just gotten it to communicate with the ECM( which should be the same for all in the powetrain platform) the tuning is actually already done. the 09-10 rams are the exact same (first year for the VVT hemi) they just have a lock encryption on the ECM on the 2011+

he described it to me like a huge pop-up that you cant get to the little x in the corner fast enough.

OK so they still haven't broken through the encryption yet for the 2011+ models. Right?

But if the tunes for the 3.6 are available this spring, then they must have different encryption???

I'm surprised that there main market is not the wranglers to be honest. I'm just holding on tight for Jan still only couple more days left

I hope that sometime in summer it comes out.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you are in the manual shift mode in 6 not in tow/haul, and at hwy speeds, aren't you then in the highest gear possible on the car AND you won't go into 4cyl mode ever?

I don't see how tow/haul would hurt anything, it is the electronic control you are changing, and it is making it easier on the trans foresaking mpg to do it.
I live in a hilly town, I drive in "manual" set to 2 a lot to prevent the extra shifts going uphill or down right before I have to stop again. Over time, this could save like 50% of the total shifts a trans makes in its lifetime. That must help something, not to mention keeps it in a better gear for using the engine torque and compression braking.

I thought I read it took 2-3 years for a 05-10 tuner to come out.. So we still have some waiting to do.
