Re: Any new Updates heard for a WK2 Programmer - BullyDog, HyperTech, SuperChip

Just tweeted him. This is out of control. It would be one thing if they at least offered some factory performance options like a supercharger from Mopar. They just locked the PCM and said eff u. I'm sorry 360 or 475 hp for SRT is really not that much these days. Especially in a pig of a vehicle that weighs in over 5000 lbs. I would love to slap a nice twin screw on my hemi and make close to 450-500 whp.

Chrysler is really messing up here. Don't they realize they are the only automaker doing this. Ford lets you do what you want but they just made damn sure they could tell if you messed with the PCM or ECU. This sucks and it really makes me think i should have kept my F150.

Re: Any new Updates heard for a WK2 Programmer - BullyDog, HyperTech, SuperChip

I agree. If I had known this before purchase I would have looked harder at other options. As it stands this might be my last jeep/chrysler/dodge purchase because of this. Was looking at an SRT8 Chrysler 300 or Challenger. Now I'm not. If this circulates more it will definitely hurt sales. Guys buy V8s and SRTs because they want performance and more performance is better to a large chunk of this group. Now I'm looking at a Shelby GT500, Caddie CTS-V, and M5 instead.

As far as doing it to protect the warranty, that's bogus too. People are fully aware that you void the warranty with this stuff if your mods are the reason for the repair. I void warranties within the first 18 months because of how much I drive so I really don't care about it and I'm fully comfortable paying for any repairs my mods are responsible for. Sorry, but CDJ really dropped the ball here. Maybe if they sold a part that allowed you to add programming, like a module you plugged into the wiring so they could make money on it and also register them with the vehicle to show that mods had been made this would solve their worries about warranties and allow us to do what we want with our vehicles.

It's unfortunately becoming more common with modern vehicles. Toyota/Lexus do this, too.

But why can't we have solutions like the AEM EMS? My Lexus IS300 has a locked PCM, however we just bypassed it with the EMS and everything else runs fine. I have full control over fuel, ignition, and cam timing with it, and the stock ECU knows no different.

I know this was possible on the 1st gen IS, but it was a lot more complicated with the 2nd gen. One of my friends used an HKS FCON (straight from Japan!) to tune his supercharged 2IS, but he was the exception to the rule. I guess the levels of security have improved (or worsened, depending on you POV).

I wonder if Arrington's actually proven this. I'd like to see some applications other than with their FI kits.

Still waiting to see if the programmers crack the code or the Chrysler execs crack and release the codes, or get canned for loosing sales due to alienating so many owners and prospective buyers. Tick tock.

I think that's the biggest issue - the JGC isn't a platform that typically attracts performance enthusiasts. Of all the WK2s that you see on the road, I'll wager 98% have no interest in aftermarket tuning. Chrysler isn't going to lose any sleep about keeping the encryption keys to themselves.

Fingers-crossed that a vendor cracks the code.

well CJD puts our same motor in other performance oriented vehicles such as the challenger and charger, even the ram. so, yes there is a market

Re: Any new Updates heard for a WK2 Programmer - BullyDog, HyperTech, SuperChip

From the SRT engineer thread yesterday, they say:

1) Stay "tuned", more details coming soon.

In response to:

1. You've been asked a thousand times about this, but can you tell me an update as to the PCM being unlocked for tuning? Can you elaborate at all?

False hope?
