Re: Anybody using AMSOIL OIL

The RP available in retail store differs significantly from the old school product that's still sold other places, and I lost my taste for their products a long time back, personally. Amsoil still represents their products well and offers great options and protection for many situations. My question is what are you looking to gain or avoid with the other regularly available synthetics? I have a friend that's a long standing Amsoil dealer so it's easy but I'm also a fine using several others, I prefer to stay loyal though.

Re: Anybody using AMSOIL OIL

I use Signature series Amsoil in both my vehicles, (Caddy CTS-V, and the Jeep). Works well for both. I don't know about Royal Purple.

Re: Anybody using AMSOIL OIL

I have been using AMSOIL since 2007. It is a great oil especially for it extended drain. I stop using it on my jeep because I was not using it for it intended purpose with my 2014 Jeep GC because of the life time warranty and I was just wasting money.

Re: Anybody using AMSOIL OIL

Eh, not really a bad synthetic or name brand dino oil out there these days. Pick the one that meets YOUR needs based on budget/change interval/performance/availability...if you have a winter where you are, IMHO, 100% synthetic is the call...

I use the 5w-20 Signature series with an EA filter in my Hemi and change it when the indicator says to which has been at 8k intervals so far. I have been an Amsoil dealer since 1987 and I use every single Amsoil product I can. You won't get an objective opinion from me of Amsoil v. others so I won't spout it's benefits over others because we are talking about how one superior product is "more" superior to the other superior product....you get my point.

They are both fantastic products no doubt. I ran amsoil for a number of years and never had a problem. Not nocking amsoil at all

Re: Anybody using AMSOIL OIL

Yep, they're all better than anyone needs in reality. Their marketing (convincing folks they need something they don't) and one upmanship R&D has taken the product beyond the needs of 90% of the market.

I've heard that RP is a good choice if you enjoy adding oil between changes...

I have not used RP in the Jeep, but have in a previous vehicle. No complaints but I found it to be an average oil by the reports back from Blackstone.
My experience with AMSOIL is quite different. The transition between Eco mode really smoothed out in the Jeep. The engine is quieter but the Hemi tick is still there. Lab reports come back with minimal degradation of the oil. Would I run the Signature Series if I were buying it? No, I'd run XL because my engine is under warranty so I stick to the recommended intervals. As a sponsored racer I run what they want me to though!
Speaking of which, I also run the 10-40 motorcycle oil in the race bike. The chances of me going to anything else are null. After putting 2000 race miles on the bike (most of it at 11,000 rpm and up) the oil came back from the lab as well within acceptable limits.

Re: Anybody using AMSOIL OIL

Thanks The Evil Twin, I often forget to mention that Signature is overkill and that the XL is just fine for sub 10k intervals. My Hemi sees it's 20k/yr 1-3 miles at a time plus I have "fun" with it so I consider my use extreme service and the extra $40 ish per yr is a nit. She spends more time idling in the winter to get to op temp than she does moving forward it seems. And if you want to slice a few dollars off the OE is fine is you are into shorter change intervals.
