Re: Anybody using Royal Purple in there v6 engines??

I've had tremendous luck with RP in my boat, which also has a 5.7L, though Chevy block.

Haven't switched yet in the JGC, but if you can find proper RP oil spec for your Pentastar, I'd go for it.

Seems cheesy I know, but the RP stuff is noticeably slicker than most syns and dinos I've used.

Thanks for the input. I've been reading up on it and it seems to hold up longer than other oils.

Re: Anybody using Royal Purple in there v6 engines??

If you are going to spend the money for Royal Purple based on my experience tearing down engines, trannies and rear ends for rebuilding after a race or track day season or because of wear I would go with Redline. We found increased wear when Royal Purple was used.

Worst lubricant line out there is Amsoil. Significant wear issues when compared
to dino oil in Porsche air cooled engines, VW water cooled and M20 BMW engines.

Re: Anybody using Royal Purple in there v6 engines??

I used RP, are you going for the store bought line or the HPS line that you have to order from Summit or Pace performance? I used the HPS Royal Purple line. I performed an oil analysis each time I changed my oil, when I started using HPS I noticed the oil reports looked much better than when I used the store bought product line.

I just know for a fact it helps with cleaning the engine that's one of the things that Blackstone labs pointed out during my oil analysis

If you use Royal Purple check oil levels at least twice a week. There have been people with engine damage due to Royal Purple burning faster than other oils. I noticed I had to add oil every 4-5 days, so I switched back to Mobil 1.

I just think it depends on your experience with it. It was a noticeable benefit to me never had I ever had a problem with burning oil I never added a drop of oil to it and like I said I went 10k or 12k miles before changing and the oil levels were no different than when I changed it originally and from the oil reports I was receiving there was still plenty of life left in the oil. I will use it again that is for sure I had a great experience with it and it may be different from American made engines to Japanese made engines to European made engines I think that is something to take into consideration.
