Anything for V6 Pentastar?

Here in Korea, Hemi is not available due to less demand and high gas price. So I had to settle with V6 Pentastar but with this 5 speed transmission, I need more than 290hp.

I've been waiting for CAI from Mopar or any other makers of CAI but haven't heard any new news. Mopar is STILL working on it and honestly I'm not sure whether Mopar will come up with CAI better than OEM one considering OEM's rather complex set-up with air chamber. It will take more than just tube and open filter.

Mopar has CAI for Dodge Charger's Pentastar though, maybe because Pentastar for passenger sedans has simpler set-up. All I have right now is K&N drop-in filter.

I also checked out ECU mapping but none is available either.

I've checked with a local shop and it was willing to make a custom turbo or SC unit with CAI but I don't want my brand-new WK2 to be the first test mule.

Any thought or idea? Thanks.

Re: Anything for V6 Pentastar?

I am waiting for someone to supply a part number so I can start cranking out ported throttle bodies, both for the 5.7 WK2 and the Pentastar. All it would take is for someone to look on the side of the TB....

That was almost too easy! Thanks!

It appears that in order to get the new TBs a VIN# is required.

Re: Anything for V6 Pentastar?

I'm not familiar with ported throttle body tuning but am interested in seeing what kind of performance gain it will make in V6.

I am speaking now with a friend of mine who has access to a 2011 Chrysler 200, which also has the Pentastar, albeit with front wheel drive. I will be sending the TB to him in a few weeks and he will be testing it at the track. We will hopefully see a notable difference. Since the 3.6 has variable cam timing it will probably make a difference in top end.

Intake design for WK2 is different from other Chrysler sedans/coupes with Pentastar. Interestingly, Mopar already has CAI for these cars but none for WK2 with Pentastar.

I guess maybe it's due to lack of low-end tourque with regular CAI without air chamber.

Mopar has already delayed launching of CAI for WK2 w/V6 5 times.

Re: Anything for V6 Pentastar?

Can anyone help clear this up?

I have put 95RON unleaded into the wk2 (2200ks on clock) and noticed on the pentastar website that it was developed to run on 91 octane and that putting higher rating fuel will not only not be beneficial but could result in a performance degrade!!!?????
Now i was thinking of putting 95RON around town then when we go away and tow the camper putting BP Ultimate 98!!!
Any thoughts?
Cheers
guys

Re: Anything for V6 Pentastar?

Deserthucker!

Mate, thankyou so much for that info. WOW!, I really didn't know that there was a difference!!!

anyway looks like the Pentastar in my WK2 WILL run quite normally on AU 91 RON.

However, i really wish there was something in the manual about this !!!grrrrrr!!

just a last question, WIll putting 95ron (AU) in the car help the motor and/or fuel economy??

Thanks alot again mate

Regards
