An australian thing
Drivers always have a thousand reasons why they lost a race, sun in my eyes, bad plugs etc
But when you win there is only one reason
You and the car were better then the others

Trust me! The little box was quicker than my Overland! Somebody said the RAV4 with a V6 shows 0-60 times of 6.3 secs. I couldn't beat that on my best day! I know the GC is no racer, but a RAV 4? C'mon!
Oh well...at least I got the better ride, towing power, offroad capability and a gorgeous interior! Like someone else said, If I wanted a fast SUV, I should have bought an SRT8. I'm working on it, I'm workin on it....

I have Hemifever tuning for 91 octane, Corsa Exhaust, CAI, and a ported TB.
I knew the '13 GC was not the fastest SUV in the garage, but this is embarrassing! Gotta find a way into an SRT8...I just gotta!
Please don't wrap the Jeep around a tree, trying to race people.

Last time I checked RAV 4s don't come with a TRD badge, so you must be doing something wrong with your tricked out car. Maybe time to reconsider your mods if you got beaten by a car with roughly half your specs:
  • displacement (2.5 vs 5.7 liters),
  • number of cylinders (4 vs 8),
  • torque (172 vs 390 lb-f) ,
  • horsepower (176 vs. 360 hp).
Admittedly the Jeep weighs in at 5000 lbs and the TRD RAV 4 is only 3500 lbs but this was from a roll riiight? I think you'd lose out in an SRT as well - engine specs can only compensate so much for driving skills.

PS: I am afraid I might learn that the roads were slick and the RAV4 was a FWD model and Danica Patrick was at the wheel...At any rate, there will always be someone with a faster car or who is a better driver. Losing is normal, but self validation of purchases using such justifications don't work. Just admit that you wanna trade up to an SRT, no need to tell us why.

The rav 4 is AWD and can come in a 4cyl or a 6cyl .. the 4's are slow as hell but the 6's can be quick... but honestly I feel confident my Overland would spank one.

Re: Arrrgghhh! Beaten by a rav 4!

They don't offer the V6 anymore (2013 and newer is the I4 only). The V6 Rav4's had 270 HP and could do 0-60 in the mid 6's, but I think the new 4 bangers can only muster something in the mid 8's if I'm remembering correctly.

Thanks for the lecture , pop. How considerate of you to take the time try and educate this poor misguided soul. Here are a few things you may wish to consider:
● The "race" never attained speeds greater than 70 MPH, never approached a curve, and, in fact was pretty much a normal merge into freeway traffic.
● 2013 RAV4 was available with a 3.5 ltr, 239 HP V6, capable of 6.3 second 0-60 times. You missed that fact in your considerable effort to gather those carefully posted comp specs....oops!
● Really not much driving skills involved here...it was a simpe matter of whose car is quicker.
● Roads in SoCal have been dry for over a month...we're in a drought.
● I don't need validation from you or myself to buy what I want. We all have our own reasons for the things we do.
● Of course there will always be a faster car just like there will always be a better fighter, or a more arrogant pompous ass.
● Finally, there are people in this forum who are interested in the performance aspects of our vehicles, relative to that of others in the class.
I have seen the word "trolling" used to describe the behavior of certain individuals on the forum and have often wondered what it meant. Well, you sir, have artfully demonstrated the act of trolling to me, in all it's slithering glory.
I won't be responding, so go ahead and blaze away....I've seen this type of "discussion" carry on for pages on end, with nothing gained. I merely tried to give a tongue in cheek account of a freeway encounter....There will always be someone who "just don't get it"
Adios Muchacho!
