Re: Arrrgghhh! Beaten by a rav 4!

I'm beginning to think there was no race at all. The woman was probably just in a hurry to get somewhere and had no clue the op was trying to catch up.

I remember a while back somebody said that they beat everybody away from a light. My first thought was that I could too, since when the light changes most folks are still more concerned with their cell phone conversation.

One's perception of those around them, and more importantly of themselves, is truly an interesting topic.

We just bought a rav4 for my wife and the only engine option here in the states is a 2.5 for 2013.

I stand corrected...the six was available on model year 2006 through 2012 RAV4 only.

Re: Arrrgghhh! Beaten by a rav 4!

Cool story. Now that I am a troll and I am supposed to fear RAV4 driven in anger, I might as well research the beast.

Toyota RAV4 1/4 Mile Drag Racing Timeslips - DragTimes.com

I am yet to find someone who would be souping up a RAV4. As such, I am more likely to believe all these numbers are for stock vehicles. Based on the reported quarter mile numbers, a V6 RAV4 is not going to be a 6 second car in 0-60 mph unless driven by someone like Michael Schumacher.

I own a vehicle like this.
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...cy-25gt-page-1

if Car and Driver gets 5.3 sec in 0-60 mph and 14.1 sec in quarter mile (I've seen private numbers in the mid to upper 13s) then this RAV4 must be absolutely outstanding. I don't dispute that they are fast but they are not that fast.

Re: Arrrgghhh! Beaten by a rav 4!

You have a HEMI, and you were beat by a newer RAV4? That sucks...PLUS the RAV4 gets better gas mileage too!

From Edmunds:

Powertrains and Performance

The 2013 Toyota RAV4 is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 176 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic is standard, and the RAV4 is available with either front- or all-wheel drive.
In Edmunds testing, an all-wheel-drive Toyota RAV4 needed 9.1 seconds to hit 60 mph, an average time for this segment. The front-drive RAV4 returns an EPA-estimated 24 mpg city/31 mpg highway/26 combined, which is very good for a small crossover. The all-wheel-drive model, meanwhile, achieves 22 mpg city/29 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined.

Curb weight of a newer RAV4 is 3435 lbs...2014 GC weighs 1000 lbs more!

I have Hemifever tuning for 91 octane, Corsa Exhaust, CAI, and a ported TB.
I knew the '13 GC was not the fastest SUV in the garage, but this is embarrassing! Gotta find a way into an SRT8...I just gotta!
Invest in lottery futures. When it pays off, buy an SRT.
Or, look up the tuners who will swap that wimpy little 5.7 litre for a 7 litre or so.

But still! Even with all the mods Ive done I'm lucky to get down to 7 second 0-60 times. This just really showed me the limits of my Overland!
The 8 speed is a bit faster in the '14, about half a second.

Maybe a good nitrous feed would have taught that V6 to respect its elders.

It is actually a fairly nice SUV, trim levels are a tad on the low side similar to the older Nissan Pathfinder. Quite serviceable and capable, and if already on the boil, hard to catch.
