Re: CAI 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude

Most CAIs are in reality Hot Air Intakes.
I made my own snorkel that combines the benefits of a "ram air effect" and that of a cold air intake (i.e. its inlet port is OUTSIDE of the car, forward facing in the direction of travel). I have added benefits of 2-3 MPGs over stock and added power, as measured on private closed roads in side by side contest against a similarly engined but lighter (no skid plates = 100 lbs ?) Overland . The guy is here on the boards and he'll attest that in a 40-70 mph sprint, I would consistently be ahead by almost a car length.

Re: CAI 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude

AFE Momentus GT is true CAI and uses stock air inlet area. Looks like a nice piece. More expensive than all others though.

The "cold" air Momentus GT claims to add 16 HP, flows 38% better.
The "warm" air stage 2 claims to add 19 HP, flows 64% better.
Seems cheaper is better?

Red face Re: CAI 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude

I decided to purchase a Cold Air Engine sound enhancer after all...
I had a little extra cash to put some extra equipment on my Jeep to personalize it to me a little. It was just too "Stock" for my taste and wanted to be a little different.

I went with the AFE Magnum FORCE Intake System; Stage 2 Pro 5R

CAI 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude

I regret putting in a K&N 3.6 CAI last week. A big noise making throttle killing mistake. It's embarrassing hitting the throttle and having a lot of noise, but no go. I have at least a good 2 or 3 second delay now when I mash the peddle down. Thinking about going back to stock I hate it so much.

Wonder if a throttle body spacer may help...

Something bad happened to me on this Monday night coming home from work....

Anyhow, as soon as I get it back from the body-shop I'll post a pic.

I just checked them out on Amazon. Nice looking unit. All sealed and looks factory but over $500

The K&N is almost half that. They both do the same thing basically.

But that's just me.
