What engine and gear did your overland come with?
V8 5.7 has a 6 speed auto
V6 has 5 speed auto

The 5.7 and 6.4 do use a different transmission, so you may need to swap both engine and tranny. The 6.4 uses the same tranny as the V6. Perhaps it would be easier to swap engine and computer into a V6 overland, except that the Dif in the V8 may be beefier.

I haven't heard of anyone doing it.

Anwarko,

You are not the only member on this board to want the SRT8 powerplant in an Overland or other trim for a bit of trail benefits.

However, you might be the first to inquire about making the swap in engine and transmission. Good luck and let us know if you decide to give it a try.

Thumbsup

Re: Can i fixed 6.4 enjine to 5.7 overland?

I thought of the swap my self.I dont want to be pulling motors any more. If you do this you best swap motor and trans together. Give some thought to your PCM this could have consequences of its own. ex. not matched to eng. or vin# not matched to vehicle, state inspection problem. Lots to think about. Just hop up your 5.7. try a small cam and a stage 1 or 2 perf. head. You might also think of headers when there out.

Re: Can i fixed 6.4 enjine to 5.7 overland?

You can definitely swap the 6.4 in without issues, a member on another forum has swapped the 6.1 in a 5.7 XK, it bolts right up to 5.7 tranny and has no problems with shifts or performance. One of the main reasons the SRT8s use the V6 tranny is gearing, not strength. Depending on what drivetrain you have is how simple or complicated it can be. If you have the 5.7 HEMI Id suggest doing performance heads and cam w/ headers/exhaust before swap, its cheaper easier and will give you the same if not better performance with half the cost

Re: Can i fixed 6.4 enjine to 5.7 overland?

I would think it would be a lot easier, cheaper, and better to wait for a tuner and put either a supercharger or a turbo on the 5.7. Hell, even an intake, cam, header will probably get you close to the SRT's stock power level.

Re: Can i fixed 6.4 enjine to 5.7 overland?

You'd likely be best off just having the 5.7L bored/stroked. It's very nearly the same engine, just larger, so going to all the trouble/cost of swapping it is a bit inefficient.

Of course, a blower could accomplish the same thing too.
