Re: Corsa Exhaust Install - Quick Update

I used a jack stand too. Support the back end of the old system and hold the H pipe of the new Corsa while putting it together!

Sound is awesome! After some tweaking of pipe clamps etc I got the rear rattle to go away. It was a 5 hour job by myself with some help from pops when I needed two people. Its nice that it is in pieces and not all one as the Mopar, otherwise it would be much more difficult to install from the ground..
I played around with the mounting a bit to get the hangers right, some tweaks and it fit properly. Also found the rear passenger support comes close to hitting as well so a lot of tweaking there. It was easiest to unbolt all the mounts and remove the bushings while the old one was on the ground, then reinstall.

Re: Corsa Exhaust Install - Quick Update

Yeah a few of my hangers needed some tweaking on the H pipe to fit right. I still cant get the tips to line up "perfect." My drivers side is still a hair towards the outside. I think i need to add lock washers to the nut and bolt that lock the two rear brackets together...maybe some lighter strength loctite? They seem to slip apart after i drive around for a bit.

Agree 100% here, had Corsa installed today had 6 techs looking at system and they deemed that Corsa shipped pipes that were about an inch (or two) "short", which created an imperfect install that rattles now on rear passenger side. I had Paul, Jim, and Chad from tech support OTP w/Jeep techs today trying to figure out but Corsa likely to ship out replacement pipes, something definitely wrong we all spent a few hours trying to troubleshoot. Sound is great, not quite thrilled with hangers and generally the quality of the 'fit', but we have a case into Corsa and I'm bullish in a prompt, effective response. We tried to get it on the car as best we could, but due to pipe defect the tips are not lined up perfect, we need to fix.

Re: Corsa Exhaust Install - Quick Update

I had the same issue when installing it. I had to adjust it 3 times because it would rattle. After installing on the floor then adjusting it I ended up putting on my buddies lift to get a better view. Had to bend the hangers to make it fit right. Now that I hear the pipes where short it make even more sense.

Once I got the whole system 'on' the Jeep, I went back and forth several times to get the fit lined up properly, loosening everything up and then tightening it again. I used a strap clamp to pull the 2 pipe sections together until they were centered and then tightened up that one bolt. One thing I'm considering there is to drill a second hole and another bolt that will firmly lock the sections in place once I'f fully satisfied with the fit.

Finally, once I was done with the initial install, I put a short section of heater hose over the rear hangers on both sides because of the close fit to the body weld flange to further help alleviate any possibility of a rattle. Will look to see if there is any wear there when I go back and check everything over the weekend.

Doing all this allowed me to get the tips to "look" centered.

Keep us posted on how you make out.

Appreciate you sharing...I have a strong relationship with my service department lead, which gave me leverage with Corsa. He saw the fit, 6 other techs see the fit, and all agreed that there is a flaw, and thats all before we get to the actual 'fit' discussion which I think you guys are all dead on right about. Corsa was a bit defensive, but is sending new pipes...as they should. I wasn't hearing any other solution or blame game on 6 seasoned techs. They are a reputable company, its why you deal with a company like Corsa. Even With proper sized pipes, I understand there may still be some latitude with adjusting...however, the hangers and the rubber fittings to me are not "long term" solutions...I just have this feeling that I'll be addressing the rattle a year from now, after a hard winter. I literally don't care, the sound is awesome and after a proper tune this thing is gonna haul a**....my buddies at the dealer and I are having fun with this, that's all that matters...the complexity here is nothing compared to the audio project that I'm dealing with...but will figure out!!

Do you happen to have any pics of the tricks you used here? Appreciate you sharing, I think visual may help. No big deal if you don't have.

Sorry no pics. When I was doing the install, I thought I was one of the 'last' to be doing the install since I received mine about the same time as most others here but didn't have an opportunity to install it until last weekend.

Just wanted to close loop here?...you have zero 'rattle' or issues now, correct? Just want to make sure. I have faith in Corsa + my techs, but wanted to verify.

Re: Corsa Exhaust Install - Quick Update

I think all of us have no rattle.. It just a matter of a few adjustments/improvising if needed. I even had to break out an 18 inch pipe wrench to bend one of the pipe hangers on the H mufflers.. The only rattles you should/might develop I'd think where anything is close enough to actually hit are the two rear most hangers which can come in contact with the frame of the jeep. Rubber solves the issue. Or bending

Agree, although we'll get to the final 'bending' after we get the new pipes. All the guys working on the car (of which the only opinion that matters, are my Jeep techs) agreed unanimously that two of the pipes were at least 1" too short, which created final adjustment issues. I think we are close, and I hope so b/c yesterday while driving the driver rear muffler started dragging, no joke. My pipes are too short, and it screws up the entire fit. We'll figure it out, love that sound!!
