Re: Corsa exhaust installed

I am thinking about doing an aftermarket exhaust on my limited as well, but I'm concerned that it will sound funny when the engine kicks down to 4 cylinders. Did you find the sound quality vastly different between "cruising" and acceleration?

I don't notice a difference.

Re: Corsa exhaust installed

The exhaust hanger pliers are very helpful. I do a lot of exhaust work and these are a must.
Unfortunately, they don't work on the rear most hangers for the Jeep as you cannot get them in there... no way, no how. We had to unbolt the hangers and remove them... but the pliers worked afterwards to separate the hangers from the exhaust on the ground.

The droning sound when MDS kicks in is only barely louder than the stock system, if at all. It's really not bad. This was a major concern of mine when deciding on the right system.

Install was pretty straight forward. Most difficult part was removing the factory mufflers from the rear hangers... access is a b*tch.
The Corsa system bolts right up without trouble. Since there are several connections it really helps to have a few extra hands (which I had and am grateful for), but this also helps with getting the alignment just right as you have several points of adjustment to work with.

Since I have Stone White with the Altitude pkg I wanted the mufflers to be black to match the theme. I bead blasted the polished tips and painted the mufflers satin black with high temp paint about a week before.

The sound from the system is perfect. Just right for the family wagon. I have performance cars with exhaust systems MUCH louder, but didn't want anything too aggressive for this vehicle. The drone from the MDS is still there as it was with the factory system, but it's really no worse. The sound is subtle when cruising and not annoying at all. And when you put your foot down it comes alive with a deep aggressive sound. Nothing too crazy, but very good in my opinion. There's a touch of rasp in the higher RPM as you'll hear in Corsa's video, but I expected this and embrace it.

Overall I'm very pleased with the system and believe the Corsa is the right choice for this vehicle.

Thank you to all who have posted their reviews of this system before. It was you that persuaded me to go this route.

Here are a few iphone pics.
I to installed the Corsa Cat back on my Overland Summit, sounds great. One problem I am having is since it's a bolt on system the tail pipes keep moving on me mainly the passenger side so it does not look centered in the cut out of the lower facia.

My jeep only has like 2500 miles if that so I figured I wait till it settles then maybe mig weld it all together? Any thoughts comments help?

Re: Corsa exhaust installed

maybe tighten up the clamps even harder? sometimes it needs adjustments and even a propane torch to the hangers to bend them.

Yea that is probably what I am going to have to do. Its like the bracket between where it splits twoards the rear of the jeep is not wide enough. I had the dealership work at put it on, I think I might have to take it to an actual muffler shop.

Re: Corsa exhaust installed

iirc when a system is new it heat cycles, expand/contracts and therefore an adjustment is needed sometimes? do it yourself, raise it to OR2 and take a look underneath perhaps with your socket wrench?

Light_Weight, mine is a 5.7L.

I have the new GoPro Hero 3 on order and will shoot some video after it's released.
