Diablo Tuner & Texas State Inspection

Just a warning. I wasn't sure if I needed to remove my tune before getting my Jeep inspected so I did so right before I went to the station and it failed because the sensors were "Not Ready". The mechanic said it usually happens when the battery is disconnected and that I just need to drive it for a couple of days. I have never seen this come up on these forums or the Diablo forums. Just wanted to save people time. Now it's back in a couple of days to wait another hour or so to have the inspection done again.......

Re: Diablo Tuner & Texas State Inspection

It will take about 75 to 100 miles to reset. I never remove my tune before inspection and it has always passed with flying colors.

Re: Diablo Tuner & Texas State Inspection

I have a tune on a Ford which produces a P1000 "not reading ECM". I have to remove the tune to remove the DTC.

Yep...quite common with people removing their tunes and not letting the ECU "re-learn" before going for their inspection sticker or taking it to the dealership for warranty work. If this happens, always say that you had to disconnect the battery for something other than downloading tunes!

Heard these stories a lot back when I ran with the Subaru crowd. I'd always flash back to stock (using my Cobb programer) at least a week before I'd take my STI to the dealership.
