Re: E85 capable questions. Pentastar 3.6L

Hence why I asked why would you use E85? Even at 70 cent cheaper it might be a wash. Would be currious to try it with mine but you also loose power with E85.

Agreed, cost more in the long run, and less powerful.. Time could change these two circumstances however at the moment, regular gas is best still.

Doubtful! It's still just a marketing scheme for the corn subsidies, costs over a gallon of gas to produce a gallon of this stuff, and has far less BTUs per unit burned. It's a political scam unfortunately, and not a really viable alternative.

Why don"t people understand subsides do not work... If it is not a finacial solution it will not work in the long run.

Yes but your taking a dump in your gas mileage. Instead of getting 15mpg with gas, your going to get 9 or 10mpg with e85

Re: E85 capable questions. Pentastar 3.6L

I'm planning to stay away from the E85 "corn whiskey" What troubles me is the confusion... the disparity between the literature and the lack of the yellow e85 gas cap. The engine is definitely the 3.6L Pentastar. One answer given to my dealer wasn't really an answer to the question. The star-tech people at Jeep wrote about differences due to "batch production" at JNAP but they just haven't said Yes it is E85 capable or NO it is not. Had my Limited for 4 weeks now. Love It .. all I ask is a firm answer. Anyone out there from Jeep tech listening?(reading)

Welcome to the Big Ten from a Penn State guy! This year you certainly have a lot to look forward to if they are as good as everyone says. On a side note, I attended State during the time that Joe took over as coach. We played Nebraska every year, but the alums wanted that game to be dropped due to it being too easy a win for PSU. During that time, eastern football wasn't be considered as "good stuff". Six years later, and a new coach, you guys were national champs way before we sniffed the trophy. Shows what a real coach can do for any program!

Re: E85 capable questions. Pentastar 3.6L

So... I spoke with a Jeep Customer care rep today.. initially on another question. They checked and called me back. Here's their answer on the E85... that kinda makes some sense. My vehicle is NOT flex fuel capable.... The Pentastar 3.6L FLEX FUEL capable is CARB STATE RESTRICTED. They will not ship the Flexfuel version until November to states noted below. That would make me think the Flex Fuel varint does not meet Calf emissions rules yet. I live in Md. my dealer is in MD. MD is a "Carb State" Anyone have a better handle on this?

Due to its preexisting standards and particularly severe motor vehicle air pollution problems in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, the U.S. state of California has special dispensation from the federal government to promulgate its own automobile emissions standards. Other states may choose to follow either the national standard or the stricter California standards. States following the California standards include Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona (as well as the District of Columbia and Bernalillo County, New Mexico) and are frequently referred to as "CARB states" in automotive discussions since the regulations are defined by the California Air Resources Board.
