Engine air filter

I have the 5.7. I know there are tons of posts for after market but I haven't seen much on standard air filters. MOPAR one everyone going with? Or some third party manufacture? Prices and stores/site info would be great.

Also anyone going with reusable?... Don't want a reusable filter with oil though. Thanks in advanced for any recommendations and info.

AFE makes a dry filter
Advanced FLOW Engineering
$62

So far I'm just using the factory filter, replaced at 30K miles.
$29 plus tax at the local dealer.

Just took it out the other day (almost 37k now) and blew it off with the compressor. Still looks new.

Re: Engine air filter

I personally would just stick with stock filter. You won't notice any power difference from the ones that claim better airflow, and you know the stock one probably has superior filtering capabilities.

Pretty much my thoughts.
I threw the AFE dry filter out there, but at $1 per 1000 miles, the OEM filter really isn't that bad of a deal.

I used to be on one of the orginal Audi forums (audifans) that was email based and someone on that forum also had a BMW. They took a K&N filter into a test facility and compared it to an OEM paper filter. The K&N filter lost by a landslide.

Re: Engine air filter

Thanks to both of you for the info. My local dealer wants $42. What a rip off. I'll call around.

Dont even call around, maybe try one of the online mopar parts stores. They have significantly cheaper prices than what dealers charge. Genuine Discounted Mopar, Jeep, Dodge & Chrysler Parts & Accessories, Online OEM Auto Parts Store

I just looked up the price of the filter for the V8 and it says $27. Ofcourse there will be shipping on top of that, but still probably a better price. The other best place to find prices would be ebay. Search the OEM part number or 20XX grand cherokee V8 air filter and I'm sure plenty of OEM filters will show up.

Re: Engine air filter

I have the MOPAR on mine. I've liked it so far. It sounds a little better but other than that, I can't really tell a difference.
