Just wanted to share this. Recently I changed my air filter (3.6L) to a K & N drop in and went full synthetic. I drove 140 hi-way miles yesterday, cruise control set at 69 -70 mph. I was getting 26.9 MPG at one point it went over 27. Before I made these two changes my gas mileage was 24 to 25 mpg.

I too went full synthetic right after I bought my JGC V8 and a little later, I installed an AFE dry filter. I'm getting 20+ mpg in mixed city/highway driving. I have a 'soft' foot.

AEM dry vs AFE dry filter drop in? Which is better? I hear great things about both but can't decide.

I want to stay away from oiled filters like the k&n

Wow the best I ever did was 27mpg and that was at a constant 50mph between 70/75 24.7mpg.

What was your average speed? I've never heard of anyone getting that kinda mileage! I assume your Jeep is 2WD

I was asked what my speed was when i averaged 30mpg on my trip from NJ to Indianapolis and back. I was driving 70 to 75 mph, sometimes better. This was with four passengers, luggage, and 10 bowling balls, driving in 90 degree heat with the air on. Both of my kids were competing in a national tournament in Indianapolis, thats why all the bowling balls.

Was this MPG calculated by hand or from the vehicle display (EVIC)?

Mine went up 2-3mpg average over 4 months with synthetic and the AEM dryflow filter! Totally worth it!

Nice. I should receive my AEM tomorrow. I did an oil change last Saturday with Mobil 1 full syn. Crossing my fingers I get a bump in MPGs and a little extra low end torque for towing my little camping trailer.
