Re: First oil change on V6

I just had mine changed at 3600 because the car said so. I normally don't do synthetic but I figure it couldn't hurt. Even though the first change was free, it cost me an additional $50! Dealer put a sticker in the window for next change which was +3000 miles when I reach 7600. Need some help here. I keep reading that the interval is 8000 miles and I was told you can even go more with synthetic (not that I will). Any advice would be appreciated. Switch back to regular? When is the right time? Thanks in advance

I kept my purchase receipt. I never heard of that issue coming up.

7600 minus 3600 is 4000 miles, not 3000.

You can throw away the sticker. The car will let you know when it's time for the next oil change. In fact, it gives you 500 miles of advance notice: when it alerted you at 3500 miles, it meant for you to change the oil at 4000.

Re: First oil change on V6

Everyone needs to remember the warranty requires 8000 miles OR 6 months whichever is less. Not that most folks drive less than 8000 in 6 months but some do. I'm not so sure that if the EVIC says to change your oil before those requirements and you ignore it, and then have an engine failure that you might have a problem getting warranty coverage. Just a thought.

Took Mine to the dealer for free oil change @ 6500 miles- no evic indication yet though. I will move to synthetic after the next and change it when evic tells me to.

Re: First oil change on V6

Got it back from the dealer in Stockholm, Sweden today. Oilchange at 15k miles. Standard oil they use was to my surprise Mobil 1 5w30 Full Syn. life is good.
