12 mpg is terrible for the V8. 8700 miles and 17.7 lifetime average using Eco mode and 89 octane. Love the V8 combined with the 8 speed!

It's all in how your drive.. I'm pretty sure if you borrowed my car you would put the same numbers in.. I would destroy your car average lol..

How people drive does matter. There is many hyper-driving method out there. There is a video of Top Gear. Prius vs M3. The Prius was hammer down on the track and the M3 was hyper-drive behind the Prius and the M3 got better MPG then the Prius. There is a lot of factor on weather and driving environment as well. My car seem to use more gas in the winter than summer, due to the type of fuel use in the summer and winter, remote start to warm up the car in the winter, and cold weather need to burn more gas has well. There is a lot of factors on the MPG performance.

Do what many folks, and some manufacturers do--lie about it. :-)

Re: For 5.7L HEMI: what octane rating of gas do you use?

im able to travel at a constant 70mph each day to work for approx 40mi in each direction with only a few sets of traffic lights using my acc. for most of it. i brought a v8 because anything less would be classed as too lady like in my opinion and from past experience there is nothing wrong with this mileage. atleast i have the option of blowing the car off beside me at will halving that economy

You made me smile hard.. To be honest i dont care for gas mileage ( please eco friendly friends dont attack me) i didnt buy my jeep to save gas.. I would of got the srt if i didnt own a fast car and wasnt trying to replace my old back and forth jeep.. I wanted the bells and whistles and lifted suspension for the snow.. I wanted something to pull my trailers around.. So my needs could of been probably met with the v6 but im happy i went with my v8
Will say this acc definitely helps

Re: For 5.7L HEMI: what octane rating of gas do you use?

The 2011 Laredo with the 5.7L that I'm looking at buying has 41,000 miles on it and the EVIC is showing 14.4 MPG average. That seems about right compared to all the WK2s with the 5.7 that are reporting mileage via fuelly.com. Having lots of experience with Chrysler V8s...I would expect about 13 city/16 highway out of a 5,000 lb. SUV with a Hemi.

To be honest I thought the mid 20s was a exaggeration until I seen people actually posting those numbers... I was actually amazed.. My car feels every hill even the ones I wouldn't notice... I notice it only bc of the drop of my mpg.. I can't get it steady on 25mpg for more then a few seconds.. I get most of my gains from coasting with no gas and taking long brakes.. I sit in traffic for a long time though which kills me..but when I am moving it swings at 19-25mpg
