Fuel Efficiency

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland (2011). Can you increase your
fuel efficency by using gears 1 through 4 or is it best to just leave it in
drive? Is driving in 4th gear ok to do for an extended period of time? I
had a 2007 BMW 530I, and was able to get an extra 40 to 50 miles per tank of gas by using the manual shift. That had 6 gears though, rather
than 4>

Re: Fuel Efficiency

why would you no be in 5th (OD). you will get the best mileage in the highest gear at the lowest load. I can't imagine you can manually shift the car any better than the trans computer can calculate for to achieve better mileage. Just leave it in D and enjoy the vehicle
