When I first installed my Gibson I was a little annoyed by the drone....but I got used to it....eventually you won't really notice it

I don't get why some say there is no drone and others say it is horrible? Is it the product or just how everyone defines drone or how bad the drone is.
Because its a V6. The hemi guys complain about drone when MDS kicks on for them on the highway. But for a V6, drone is difficult to tune out because of the odd firing and the spacing of the exhaust pulses

I bought from first batch of black tips and then sold them to get weld on tips.

I was going to go with something like this but I couldn't seem to find a good tip that would fit on the stock muffler and not stick way out. Most tips I found in the correct ID were too long and would stick way past the bumper. I have been trying a few things with the exhaust and I found that if I put the trans in sport mode at 60 to 65MPH the trans stays in 7th gear instead of 8th. This makes the drone all but go away and sounds so much better. I understand there might be some drone and I'm willing to live with it. I really like the look of the Gibson tips, a 4" tip should be stock, and the nice exhaust tone is a plus as well. I will just stay with the stock air box so I don't add anymore sound and I imagine the CAI would just make the drone worse. If anything I will just get a AFE replacement panel filter or stick with stock. I paid $330 shipped for the stainless system from JC Whitney after a 20% off coupon so I can't really complain. I have the stock setup also so if it ever gets that bad I will go back to stock and find some weld on tips for the stock mufflers.

I got a K&N stock replacement filter and it works just fine. What did you get from JC Whitney? I looked at your Garage and didn't see any pics.

Re: GIBSON EXHAUST ordered 3.6L V6

my jeep is in the Shop today getting a new set of front rotors put on it ...so while its there I asked them to cut off the front Resonator /Muffler

I got so used to the Gibson that I was looking for a little more sound...I'm guessing it will prob be full of drone after this but I wanted to give it a try

Re: GIBSON EXHAUST ordered 3.6L V6

You are very accurate about the exhaust. I have had it over a week now and I'm already used to the sound. I really am liking it now and it looks killer with the 4" tips too. Still undecided on an intake, don't want the Jeep super noisy. I'd probably stay away from the K&N since it seems to be the loudest. As for pics no I don't have any posted yet. I'm behind the times as I don't have a photo hosting account. One day I'll get that done. JC Whitney sent me a 20% off coupon one day which brought stainless kit down to $330 shipped. Great deal I thought.

Re: GIBSON EXHAUST ordered 3.6L V6

Does anybody have experience with painting an exhaust black? Obviously I would need some high temperature paint. Any brand you would recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Did it help performance at all or is it mainly a badass sound mod? Either way, it sounds sweet.

I did notice a performance difference. It wasn't like night and day, but I did notice a difference. I love mine
