Re: Gibson Exhaust ORDERED
Sorry for the delay, Monday was a bit crazy for me.
Ok let the story begin! Installation is very easy, especially if you have a lift to use. I took mine to my trusty muffler shop and within 20 minutes it was on and ready for use. You start off by cutting the stock exhaust right at the rear differential and then removing the axel back mufflers one by one. Gibson provides pipe clamps so the need to weld the Gibson piping to your OEM pipes is not required. We went ahead and put the Gibson exhaust into the exhaust hangers (hassle-free), and then clamped the pipes together. We followed up by aligning the exhaust tips so they would be perfectly centered to the bumper cutouts, and then lowered the vehicle to the ground.
Had I manned up to this challenge I probably could have installed it myself in my driveway, however me and saw-saws are not good together.
Initial driving & idling impressions: We started her up and to my surprise found it JUST AS QUIET AS STOCK from inside the cabin. However, if you walk out to the tips it sounds a hair louder than stock. Driving in city traffic I am pleased to say there is NO DRONE! With all the windows up you can barely hear the amplified exhaust note. I have found when taking off from a dead stop the exhaust note is a tad more pronounced, however otherwise the cabin is very quiet and enjoyable.
With the windows down the exhaust note is MORE exaggerated and definitely lets the cars around you know its there. However its not loud to the point that its bouncing off the walls of stores and shops as you drive by.
Shifting the car manually does not amplify the exhaust tone. This exhaust is best heard when the car is under load. If you are above 3.5k rpm you can’t hear a difference from stock.
Overall, this system is very nice for those who just want an exhaust note a tad bit louder than stock. Its a great system for one to hear the HEMI working, but not loud enough to let people in another zip code know you are coming.
In my own opinion having driven it these past 48 hours, I love it. My fear when getting this system was having a loud, obnoxious exhaust system. Originally my plan was to buy the corsa CB system, after having read all the great reviews by members it sounded just up my alley. However I would classify this as the "poor man’s Corsa CB exhaust." If you’re looking for an exhaust note that wont leave you and your passengers deaf, this is it!
