The Explorer could always go more boost as well. A twin turbo V6 has more potential than a NA V8. You would have to add a supercharger to surpass that and it costs a lot more. He could always go with larger turgid and intercooler for yha same cost. You can't beat technology. Even with displacement. A 4door Panamera Turbo is quicker than a Viper. Technology, not displacement. Mix displacement with technology and that's a different story. Pushrod engines can only go so far before they become the exploders. I dealt with this same issue with my Harley FXDX. I had a 98" big bore, stage 2 head work, bigger carb, exhaust etc. A bone stock 600cc sport bike would run me down in the 1/4. Pushrods do not equal performance. DOHC does.

In my search to see what a stock SRT runs, all I could find is that is runs in the low 13's, high 12's would be in the new 5.0 Mustang or Boss 302 territory, I am not trying to be difficult but I am skeptical without at least a few magazine reports.

Downhill with a heavy tail wind, right?

Most new SRT GCs seem to run low 13s at best around here. I've yet to see a stock one dip into the 12s.

why buy a ferrari for couple hundred grand when you can buy a pinto and drop a 302
Why did you buy the SRT when the "German" SUV's out perform the SRT. My guess would be because SRT is considerably cheaper.

Re: Got demolished by a Ford Explorer Sport

I kinda never "got" the idea of fast trucks/SUV's. Sure, it will be nice to have a chipped diesel WK2 that will feel very peppy when mine comes in, but if I wanted to drive fast I would take out my Nissan GTR. Although I do have people try and race me in pickup trucks and stuff all the time lol.

The explorer is good value for a mall crawler, the SRT is a sweet highway machine, but both have no off-road capability which kinda defeats the purpose for me.

I could've had either of those suvs and actually took rhem for test drives. I didnt like the x5m at all.....styling is not my style. The cayenne tt I liked the exterior styling...but the interior didnt impress me at all. Im a tall guy...and I could never find a comfortable spot or setting. The interior seemed a little dated imho with the hundreds of buttons. I also looked at the gtr's...but they were totally impractical for a family man. So I purchased 2 SRT Jeeps in the last 9 months. I also have a jku rubicon 10a if I wanna go offroad.

Some of us have families plus need the utility of the GC...but want a very well performing vehicles in any weather conditions. I have the jku rubicon for offroad. ..why would I take a gc offroad? The jku is vastly superior offroad.

Then I would like to see them, but to make it fair they must be from a new car professional testers not some video of a car at a track that could be modified already, because we all know how a new 5.0 responds to mods.
