Has anyone installed headers on a 5.7L yet?

I know that it's been talked about a lot but has anyone actually installed a set of headers on their 5.7L WK2 yet? If so what system did you go with and was it a full system or did they connect to an existing cat-back system. Please let us know your experience as I am considering the American Racing Headers 1 3/4" primaries to 3" cats and 3" H pipe. I am wondering how will that will hook up to my 2.5" corsa cat-back that I currently have installed.

Re: Has anyone installed headers on a 5.7L yet?

I was looking into this a while back, and from what I remember not only are the headers them selves are expensive $1,300-$1,800+ depending on brand "Kooks or American Racing" and if you get cats or not.

Also the installation I also heard is a bitch. possible having to cut and hammer, and maybe even having to take off the fenders. Ontop of having to meet emission standards, I think it may throw codes.

TRELOS78 is the only person on here that I think got headers put on his 5.7L WK2, but sadly he never reported back to his own thread

Re: Has anyone installed headers on a 5.7L yet?

Hmmm... Interesting. I priced out a set on ARH website with cats that came out to I think $1650. If I was to buy them I'd be doing the install myself. I believe it's the passengers side that will be a bit tight, drivers side should go in just fine based off what I've seen while having my jeep up on a lift. I have a diablosport trinity with a hemifever tune so I'm sure the guys over there could give me a base tune to start from and after some data logging I'm sure they can get her running right. I've also been thinking about (after headers) bringing my jeep to a performance shop that can dyno tune my 5.7L hemi and hopefully unlock the power that the diablosport cannot. For a motor this big that's been opened up to breath (intake, ported throttle body, corsa cat-back, hemifever tune) it's still a DOG in my opinion. I mean it's a 5.7 this thing should rip, just gotta get around all the "torque management" some how.

Man I would love to hear the finished product when your all done with it. I agree the Hemi should FLY, I think it absolutely sounds Fantastic! well I would love to hear how the install on the headers go, maybe some pics! and dyno graphs and video when you do some tuning!

Re: Has anyone installed headers on a 5.7L yet?

It's going to be a while before I get everything done (august-September) I'm just trying to pick some brains and do some homework before I decide to pull the trigger. I know that I'm going to have to modify the corsa a bit. I believe that I will need to remove the resonators and weld on my own flanges. I wonder if there will be any negative effect due to the fact that the corsa is a 2.5" system and the headers cats and mid pipes are all 3". I doubt it probably just give me a little more back pressure than a full 3" system, which is fine by me. That will just equate to a little more low end if I'm not mistaken. Either way when it comes time to do all this fun stuff I promise I will keep everyone posted every step of the way just be patient with me till fall. I know how frustrating it is to see countless dead end threads on topics you want to know more about.

I dont know for the wk2 but LTs on a wk1 5.7 really open her up even without a proper tune. When i do get a proper tune im sure i will fall in love with headers all over again. Its a long and mind numbing process but i fell it was all worth it. Best of luck and look forward to seeing what you do with it.
